Itinerary

We will pick you up from your hotel or villa and transport you about 35 minutes into the mountains just outside of Manuel Antonio. Upon arrival to the privately owned Chorro Ecolodge, you will have a private yoga class on an elevated platform in the rainforest overlooking the Naranjo River. The sounds of the birds and forest creatures and the flowing river will ease you into a relaxed and peaceful place. After yoga, have some juicy fresh fruit and then head out on a one hour hike though primary rainforest to learn about some of the local flora and fauna. Cool off in the refreshing waterfall at Chorro Lodge before heading to our neighbor and dear friend's house where Dona Luz will prepare some delicious Costa Rican fare. She loves company and is happy to teach you how to make her scrumptious corn tortillas!

Out of all the tours I did while in Costa Rica, this was by far my favorite one. We started the day with a slow and peaceful hike through the rainforest then an amazing yoga session in the jungle, followed by some fresh pineapple. We walked 5 minutes to a gorgeous waterfall where we swam and cooled off. Then finished with the most delicious meal we’ve had here in a local’s home. Our guide, Alberto, made the tour even more special with his kind spirit and knowledge of the area. We had such enlightening and inspiring conversation that I will carry with me forever. This excursions truly made our trip. 10/10 recommend.

Such a memorable day. Our guide, Alberto, was wonderful… friendly and took lots of pictures for us. The hike was beautiful and a great way to reconnect with nature before embarking upon the best yoga experience I’ve ever had. Our instructor, May, was wonderful…did a great job with determining level of difficulty for our class and paid attention to our form and did her job of correcting us or helping us to get deeper into a pose. Being surrounded by nature… the sights, sounds, smells… all of it really was a top notch way to unwind and decompress. A nice walk to the waterfall afterwards was a great way to cool down and the cultural lunch was very special and delicious. We did not learn to make corn tortillas though which we thought we were going to as it was stated in the excursion description and my girls were a bit disappointed with that, but over all it was a truly magical day-

The hiking and yoga tour was the best activity during our stay in Manuel Antonio. Alberto, our guide, personalized the tour, describing the cultural lifestyle and life in the different regions of Costa Rica. The yoga setting was amazing, where Cara, our instructor, led a class of restorative stretching and gentle moves. It was wonderful experience! We were served the sweetest, most delicious fresh pineapple and coconut cookies between the yoga class and hike to the waterfall. And to top it all off, we were served a home cooked meal of chicken, beans & rice, veggies, tortillas, and fresh lemonade in a local family’s home. This tour exceeded our expectations and is highly recommended for a mind and body stimulating experience. Well done!

Cara and Leo were wonderful hosts. They shared their beautiful property, were so welcoming and kind, and made sure we were comfortable throughout an amazing day. We hiked under 300 year old trees with Leo as a guide, did yoga on the most exquisite platform in the trees and walked to the river waterfall to cool off in the waters. They shared their neighbors with the same ecological interests, so we saw local coffee and how it was processed, watched hummingbirds in jungle feeders, and ate the best meal of our trip with Don Luis. This tour was the last day and a highlight of a wonderful trip. The yoga was much needed and Cara taught the ideal class for our diverse group.

My family of 5 had our perfect "zen" day in Costa Rica on this excursion. The property is stunning, so well designed, & is an oasis in the jungle! My daughters (ages 21, 19, 16), my husband, & I all loved this experience. We experience began when we were picked up by Alberto who was extremely accommodating & kind. Once we arrived at the property, he took us on a hike through the jungle. I would suggest wearing closed toe shoes (keens, tennis shoes) over open toed tevas/flip flops. Most of the path is covered with fallen leaves/dirt. Alberto provided water for us which was appreciated because it was warm/humid. I might suggest bug spray around the ankles. I had a few bites, but nothing that would deter me from doing this again. Following the hike, we met May who guided us through a gentle yoga series. Only 2 of the 5 of us "do" yoga, but May easily walked us through the hour class. To do yoga while listening the birds sing and hear the roar of the river was amazing. After, we snacked on fresh watermelon & butter cookies. Hit the spot! Alberto then walked us down to the river (not very far) where we walked through the water to the small waterfall (pictured in everyone's photos). I would suggest water shoes since the river bed is covered in rocks. Alberto took us to a swim spot where we could jump off large rocks. We were the only ones in the river! How peaceful & wonderful not to be with a lot of other travelers. Alberto never rushed us. He allowed all of us to soak in this experience at our pace. The day finished with a FABULOUS meal (chicken casado) made by the neighbor, Luz. This by far was the best meal we had in Costa Rica! Enhanced with the experience of being in her home & talking with Alberto. Magical day!

This excursion was the highlight of our Costa Rican vacation! An unforgettable rainforest hike with Leo (who taught us about the plants and animals living there,) relaxing yoga with Carrie on a platform overlooking the Naranjo River (a Toucan watched us from a nearby tree,) a waterfall plunge with a riverbed walk and a delicious authentic Costa Rican cuisine lunch in the home of beautiful Luz, this tour is truly off the beaten path. It was a short drive (about 35 minutes) from the Manuel Antonio/Quepos area. The Chorro Ecolodge looks like an amazing place to stay if you want to try glamping. Our group of 8 absolutely loved this tour!
