This was not a good experience. The only thing keeping this from a 1 star rating was the guide was friendly. The guide gave us no instruction prior to getting into our kayaks. Once we were all in the water he proceeded to take off as if he was doing his own workout. He never looked back to check on our group. At times he was a speck on the horizon he was so far away from us. It started to rain and the wind was whipping us to the point it was very difficult to row the kayaks. The guide didn’t care. He just made a beeline for the shore and offered us a measley powerbar at the halfway point. We were exhausted. He didn’t really tell us anything noteworthy except that the lake is manmade. 2 hours wasted. And that was a significant Uber ride to get there and back from La Fortuna. The worst experience we had in Costa Rica. Not because of the kayak experience per se.. but the “guide” was anything but. I would’ve rather spent the $55 on food that gave me food poisoning than do that again.

We had an amazing time with our guide, Fred. He provided details about the volcano and the area. He was super nice and took photos of our family as we paddled out toward the volcano. Would highly recommend this experience.

Amazing views of the volcano on the paddle boards!!! Best views of the volcano from our trip. Very friendly staff with helpful tips. Also fair price. Highly recommend!!!

I told them 3 times we were not going which they acknowledged. They still charged us!

Nice activity. Weather didn’t cooperate as we couldn’t see the volcano due to heavy clouds. Guide was a nice guy.

Our guide Marlon gave us a good tour and helped us look for Cayman and birds. Kayaks were ready in the water and bathrooms available before and after. Overall enjoyed.

The other people in our kayaking group didn't show up so it was just me and my partner, and Leno the instructor. He gave us lots of info about the Lake as we paddled and drifted along, and was very personable and friendly. This was our favorite activity we did in Costa Rica, hands down.

Leno was a great guide. We had a fantastic time paddleboarding Lake Arenal with him. His English was very good as was his paddleboarding skills. Our 2 teens especially had fun playing his balancing games.
