Itinerary

Join us for a sail down the coast as you enjoy a continental breakfast with Kona coffee and breathtaking views of the Kona coast.  As we sail down the coast, scan the horizon for hahalua (manta rays), nai'a (dolphins) and kohola (whales - seasonal).

Upon reaching the Kealakekua Bay marine sanctuary, which is home to the Captain Cook monument, receive a water safety briefing along with snorkel equipment, snorkel instruction and water noodles.  After your briefing, use our grand staircase to get in/out of the water where you spend an hour snorkeling in the marine sanctuary with its abundance of i'a (fish) and vibrant coral structures.

After snorkeling, enjoy a build-your-own sandwich bar for lunch complete with pasta salad, chips and freshly baked cookies as we set the sails and head back to Kona.

Our snorkel and sail adventure is a great way to spend your morning - sailing on a beautiful catamaran with a fun and engaging crew, breathtaking views of the coastline, an abundance of marine life and some of the best snorkeling in the world!

This tour company is amazing! First off, they make you feel safe. I appreciate them keeping the tour fun, but still ensuring you understand that following the rules is imperative for your safety and to protect the reef. They guides are knowledgeable and go above and beyond. We did a morning tour and you get breakfast and lunch and non- alcoholic beverages. Alcohol for purchase is only $5! The lunch was sandwiches, chips and pasta salad. The snorkeling area was great, and the ride to the reef is beautiful. They make an extra couple of stops and it was a magical day. Highly recommend...our group was about 30 people so not too crowded, the boat was big and clean and even had 2 restrooms.

The crew was absolutely awesome! They were kind, personable and attentive. The boat ride and snorkeling was excellent, too. Beautiful views with a bit of history peppered in. I have zero regrets booking this tour.

We had such a great time on the sunset boat ride and manta tour that we decided to book a second excursion with Kona Style just two days later. They happened to have spots available so we grabbed them right away! We went to Kealakekua Bay and the boat ride there was absolutely gorgeous! It was the perfect way to spend our last full day on the Big Island. All we did was soak up the sun and the sights along the way and let the crew take care of the rest! Lucky for us, this was also a small group - almost gave the feeling of being on a private charter! So awesome! As far as the location, Kealakekua Bay is a fantastic snorkeling location! It’s a must see! There’s tons of coral and a large variety of fish here - we even spotted an eel! My Dad and I had actually snorkeled this location a few days prior BUT we went on foot via a 2 mile loop hike to get here and back (as a side note, definitely recommend the boat route for this one - less gear and less physical effort which means more time in the water and more fun to be had - also the one mile hike back uphill mostly in lava rock can definitely take it outta you!) I didn’t get in the water this trip (my intention was to just lounge on the boat and soak up some rays the last day) but my Dad got in the water and enjoyed it! Also I should note that there weren’t very many people there when we arrived (it’s clear that Kona Style has this timed just right so it’s not super crowded when you get there). On the way back, we went to the grotto and saw a collapsed lava tube. Then visited Pele on the side of the island. I really appreciated the extra stops and learning more about the sites along the way! Then, just before we docked, there was a pod of spinner dolphins to welcome us back. We couldn’t believe it! Another solid Kona Style trip for the books! The crew continued to impress us and delivered yet another top notch experience! Thank you Kona Style! My Dad and I will see you again next time!

We did the morning snorkel sail and our crew was Captain Dan, 1st Mate Jacque, crewmember Brit and crewmember VuVu. The crew was professional, always concerned for our safety and they were fun! Captain Dan was knowledgeable in Hawaii's history and a great skipper. We backed into a collapsed lava tube which wasn't much bigger than the boat! The ride was very nice, a continental style breakfast was served and then a sandwich lunch with choices of cold-cut meats and sides of pasta salad and potato chips. A cash/credit card bar is available if you choose. We motored out to Kealakekua Bay Marine Life Conservatory to snorkel around the living reef. This is a popular place with the tour company's as there were 4 or 5 other boats in the area. That didn't diminish the snorkeling experience however. The return trip was great, and a few stops were made (including the aforementioned collapsed lava tube). Oh and they played great music! We would highly recommend Kona Style!
