I was lucky to find a perfect shop with a teacher who is an actual graduate in Music. Thanks Viator and Tripadvisor! If you have been in India before, then you know, there are many "half baked" shops who claim quality but don't deliver it.
I was able to learn tabla and tampura (highly recommended), and was able to experience the healing of the sound first hand. Something to be said about hand made instruments... it just feels so different, so divine. The teacher is a professional with many years of experience, you could tell by his level of patience and teaching skills. The shop itself is beautiful, clean, westernized, - not like the other slum looking shops in Varanasi that I've visited. Very impressive.
High-quality service and high quality experience for sure.
