We liked the way Judy treated us, like we were any other couples traveling together. It was hard to tell if the tours were LGBT friendly when we tried to book online, especially in Asia. But we made the right choice to go with Judy. Thanks, Judy and her team.

My husband and I recently visited Beijing (October, 2019) to “check off” one of the items on our bucket list; that being walking the Great Wall of China (well, 2 ½ kilometers of it anyway). Prior to leaving our home in Vancouver, Canada, we searched the internet for a reputable tour company (guide) and found Judy’s Discovery Tours on Trip Advisor. Judy specializes in LGBT clientele. We are very experienced world travelers and accordingly, did our homework on Judy’s Tours. However, “you never really know what you are going to get, until you get there”. We booked the tour online a month or so before we departed for Beijing and we hoped for the best. Well, let us tell you, what a wonderful experience we had with Judy!! This lady certainly knows her stuff!! We had arranged a pick-up for 9:00 am at the InterContinental Hotel and then we’d drive to the Great Wall. Judy and her driver arrived just before 9:00 AM along with her driver and an immaculately clean, air conditioned late model passenger van, complete with cold bottled water and umbrellas, should we need them. The drive to the great Wall is about an hour and forty-five minutes which Judy narrated the history of everything along the scenic drive. She sure knows her history and speaks fluent English. Once at the Wall, Judy purchased the tickets for the rides both up and back down the Wall and once up on the Wall, she followed along our walking journey and provided more history and commentary of how and why the Wall was built. She even arranged for us taking the sled from the top of the Wall back down to the bottom. (you have to try the sled coming down rather than the gondola – it’s great fun). On the way back into Beijing, Judy asked us if we’d like to stop for lunch at one of the restaurants located in many of the small bedroom communities that surround the Great Wall area. We said yes, and with a single phone call from our van, Judy called ahead and let them know we were on our way. We had a great lunch of the tastiest Chinese food we’ve ever eaten. Once back at the hotel, we sadly parted company to a new friend... Judy. We both highly recommend Judy. And, if you do contact her for your Great Wall experience, you won’t be disappointed.
