I love this place. I can't wait for my grandkids to visit so we can bring them there. The people that work there are all so knowledgeable and informative, they really take the time to really talk with you.

We live 5 minutes down the street from the Lion Habitat Ranch but somehow have never actually went until yesterday, and we were so glad we did!
We figured maybe they had 2-3 lions and the giraffe everyone talks about. We didn't expect the macaws, ostriches, emus, and probably 8-10 lions (the retired MGM lions and their offspring).
At first glance, you'd be forgiven for being suspicious of whether this place is legit or not. It's not as visually appealing as most people are accustomed to in traditional zoos, the enclosures aren't covered in fake rocks and trees and such. But we very quickly realized these animals are happy and healthy and have everything they need. Both the paid staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly, and obviously care deeply about the animals and their wellbeing.
For $10 you (or your kids) can feed Ozzie the giraffe, making for some great family photos. For significantly more money (I believe $100), you can feed raw meat to one of the lions. 2 guest-sponsored lion feedings happened while we were there, and we were happy to see how safely they were performed. We were also informed that while these lions had all been used to direct human contact when they were working, once they retired they stopped getting direct contact and now all interaction with them happens with at least a fence in between. Again, safety of both humans and the animals seems to be of primary importance.
We spent about an hour walking around, and normally I'd say $20 for an hour is a bit on the expensive side, but knowing the expenses this non-profit incurs to keep these animals well fed and safely housed makes me OK with it, and I'd gladly pay it again. We were so impressed we're even considering volunteering there.
Overall I highly recommend a visit. If you're a tourist coming to Vegas, this would be a nice way to get off the Strip for a little bit and let your money do some good for these wonderful animals. Also, the M Resort casino is about 2 blocks over, so you can go right back to gambling afterwards 🙂

Cool place to visit on the outskirts of Vegas. Amazing Lions to be seen up close and the staff were so friendly and informative. We also had the personal pleasure of Ozzy the giraffe paint a picture for us which we proudly display in our house!

I am so glad we visited this hidden gem while in Las Vegas. The staff were incredible - very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our many questions. The lions were amazing and we interacted with some of the birds. The highlight for my children, though, was Ozzie the giraffe. He did a painting demonstration, showed us how tall he is, bowed for the audience and my kids had the opportunity to feed him. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the Las Vegas area.
