Itinerary
This hiking takes place in the west of Medellín in the village of San Cristobal starting at the El Moral Ecological Reserve. From there we will hike through thick forests to the best viewpoint in the city called Piedra Galana. We will continue hikig through forests on undulating terrain passing through the Guanpante and Astilleros ecological reserves and through several viewpoints of the city to end the tour in the Santa Mónica neighborhood.
Approximate duration between 5 to 7 hours. It depends on your physical state.
We can agree to take the shortest route, from 2 to 4 hours.

It is possible to vary the route in time and distance.

Erwin took us on an incredible 16-km hike through the forest west of Medellín. It was a short trip to arrive at the starting place and we were thrilled by the variety of plants and amazing views of the area. Erwin is very knowledgeable about nature and culture. We both speak Spanish, but he was helpful when we didn’t know words. His English is excellent is you need the tour in English. Highly recommended!

Wonderful hike and amazing views!!! Having said that, I wish more information would have been available. Wear long pants, long sleeves, and socks, as we were not told this and we ended up with many many bug bites. We weren’t aware the landscape would be partly rainforest, and we didn’t feel the bites as we were hiking. Also, we gained approximately 3,400 feet in elevation so you might want to rethink if you are a beginner hiker.

Beautiful 12km hike through pastures, cloud forests, rain forests and plateaus. Gorgeous views of Medellin throughout the whole hike. Guide Erwin Andres was excellent and taught me a lot about the history and flora and fauna surrounding Medellin. Best part was how peaceful it was - only a 20 min drive from my hotel, but almost no other tourists around. I would do this same hike again next time I am in Medellin. Highly recommend!

Erwin y Diana sin duda son de lo mejor con lo que una puede encontrarse en su viaje. Súper cultos, conocedores y enamorados del lugar, hicimos una excursión de todo el día por los bosques de Medellín. La ruta se ajustó a nuestra capacidad física y a nuestros intereses, y fue, sin ninguna duda, una experiencia cultural inmensa.
Nos llevamos una grata experiencia y mucha conversación interesante. Sin duda, repetiría y recomiendo con los ojos cerrados.
