Stop At: Middleton Place, 4300 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414-7206

Two of America’s Founding Fathers called Middleton Place home: Henry Middleton, a president of the First Continental Congress, and son Arthur Middleton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Now a National Historic Landmark, it is home to America’s oldest landscaped gardens; a House Museum filled with Middleton possessions; Plantation Stable Yards with heritage breeds; and Eliza’s House, a freedman’s dwelling that serves as the centerpiece of Middleton Place’s interpretation of the lives of the enslaved people who built the property.

Sit back and relax on a luxury, air-conditioned motorcoach as you enjoy a short video provided by the Middleton Place Foundation on your way to the plantation. Upon arrival to Middleton Place, you will have the opportunity to explore all of the historic sites on this 65-acre plantation such as the House Museum, Gardens, Plantation Chapel, Parterre, Plantation Stable Yards, and Eliza's House.

Enjoy a three-course Low Country Lunch at the Middleton Place Restaurant  during your visit. Inspired by the recipes and spirit of former resident chef and renowned southern chef Edna Lewis, The Middleton Place Restaurant offers traditional Low Country favorites made from fresh, local, organic ingredients, harvested from the on-site organic farm and gardens. Lunch options include she-crab soup, shrimp and grits, collard greens, and dessert.

Grounds were well kept even after a record rainfall the day before. The tour company took care of gratuities and we were told by our waiter that we need not tip at lunch and that Pineapple Tours handled everything. I thought that was nice and not requiring a double tip.

This was a great tour for my mom, mother-in-law, and me. Since we did not rent a car while visiting Charleston this was a perfect way to see Middleton Place. Neil was our driver and was full of facts and good conversation! The ride was comfortable and safe. We really enjoyed walking around Middleton Place and experiencing it all. The buffet lunch option was absolutely delicious! (We were a little sad that pecan pie was out, but that happens and we understand.)

Beautiful, beautiful grounds to walk on. The shuttle was very pleasant indeed. Wayne, I believe, was the driver , very knowledgeable. Love how the bus itself had a video to look at so you had knowledge before even arriving. The house tour was informative and loved seeing the little family mementos and history. The lunch itself was delicious and the service was grand. We had plenty of time for exploring but as it was a beautiful day could have stayed longer. We left the pick-up spot at Charleston's visitor center at 12pm and we were literally the last of the folks to close out the day at 5pm.
