Stop At: Porta Ticinese, 20123 Milan Italy

A "Porta Ticinese" was already part of the medieval walls of Milan (12th century); the medieval gate is one of the few remnants of the medieval walls that are still in place, and it is located in the same area as the modern "Porta Ticinese", but closer to the city centre (as the medieval walls enclosed a smaller area than the Spanish walls). The current location of the gate (in a plaza that is now called "Piazzale XIV Maggio") was established during the Spanish rule, in the 16th century.

We had a wonderful tour with Davide. Despite the rain, his warm personality made the day extremely enjoyable. He has clearly developed a lovely relationship with all of the staff at the restaurants, cafes and stores we visited. The food and drinks were delicious and we never felt rushed or pressured to finish something. Overall, the pace, level of detail and food were all perfect. We highly recommend booking this tour. Thank you Davide.

The guide was amazing, and the food was great too. We were able to learn some of the historical context of milanese dishes and some pronunciations.

What a wonderful day! The weather was perfect, and the company enjoyable! Ok, so it was just my husband and I along with our guide Davide… but he made us feel comfortable and we felt like family almost immediately. The stops of food and beverages were a perfect “taste of Italy”. Davide explained the different regions of cuisine and we got a bit of everything. Arancina, wine, Panzerotto and more! We also had probably the best Risotto dish I have ever tasted. I will be dreaming about it for sure! The pace was leisurely, and Davide was so knowledgeable about his city of Milano. Do not hesitate to book this tour. It was special.

I have done many food tours and the Milan food tour was the best. I attribute this to Davide, the guide. He was passionate, informative, interactive and clearly enjoys being a guide. The food choices and the quality of the food, the eating locations, the length of the tour were all outstanding. Can’t say enough!

Adam our tour guide was wonderful. He made the tour interesting. He told the history of the area we were in as we walked to the restaurants to taste the special food he picked out for us. The food was delicious especially the pistachio rice ball and the delicious risotto. We loved every minute of the tour.

This was an absolutely fabulous tour and Davide could not have been a better guide!! We were a group of 8 from Belguim, Denmark, US, and Canada and we hit it off from the start. Over the course of 7 stops, we tasted arancina (fried rice balls - a specialty of Sicily) stuffed with pistachios and pancetta ; fassona (Italy’s equivalent to wagyu beef) tartare accompanied by caponata, caprese salad and topped off with a glass of Primitivo di Manduria (red wine); risotto with taleggio and pears, classic panzerotta, pasticciotto (pastry stuffed with custard and chocolate), espresso coffee topped with special crema, cannoncino alla crema - a bit like cannoli but with flakier pastry, and seven layer delicacy filled with Almond Sablè, Ganache of White Chocolate Mousse, Pistachio Cream, Sponge Cake, Pistachio Sand, Strawberry Jelly and topped with a Fresh Strawberry. Everything was divine! Not only did we learn about the foods we were tasting, we got a good feel for the culture and history of Italy from Davide. We would highly recommend this tour!

My tour guide Davide was the perfect fit. So friendly, passionate, funny, knowledgable and down to earth. There was a nicely rustic feel walking along the Naviglio Pavese while exchanging anecdotes on history and culture with intermittent stops of authentic gems of earthy Italian street foods from not just Milan but many cities across Italy with an in depth explanation of how food became so diverse in just one country. It’s literally food for thought! The drink upgrade is worth it. The secret dish was far more gourmet than I was expecting! Exquisite. There was also a type of pizza that I have never encountered before and even had a hard time finding on Google that I had on this tour and I’ve got to say it’s my favorite pizza I’ve ever had! Thanks Davide for that recommendation 😋
