Pass By: Province of Syracuse, Province of Syracuse, Sicily
Start point
Stop At: Ragusa Ibla, 97100, Ragusa, Sicily Italy
In the marvelous Ragusa Ibla, the places taken up in the fiction are the fascinating Iblean garden and the Corso 25 Aprile - where they meet: the commissioner's favorite trattoria, the Vigata police station (in Piazza Pola) and the square of Vigata (Piazza Duomo) where you will be fascinated by the wonderful Cathedral of San Giorgio.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Castello di Donnafugata, 97100 Donnafugata, Sicily Italy
In a vast expanse rich in carob and olive trees, instead, you will see the Donnafugata Castle: from its terrace you will appreciate a breathtaking view and, when you wander around the park, the different scenes of the fiction will resurface in your mind.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: La Casa del Commissario Montalbano, Corso Aldo Moro 44, 97017, Santa Croce Camerina, Sicily Italy
Where is Montalbano's house then? In the small fishing village of Punta Secca. In fact, Marinella is nothing but the beautiful village overlooking the Mediterranean, part of Santa Croce Camerina. Staying in the area, you can admire the characteristic lighthouse of Bourbon origin 37 meters high.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Centro storico di Scicli - World Heritage Site, Via Francesco Mormino Penna 2, 97018, Scicli, Sicily Italy
Last stop on the Montalbano tour is Scicli: here you can admire the Town Hall building (which gave the scene to the Quaestor of Montelusa's room) and Palazzo Iacono (where the scenes outside the Police Headquarters of Montelusa are shot).
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Gabinetto del Sindaco (Sala Montalbano), Via Francesco Mormina Penna, 97018, Scicli, Sicily Italy
Incredible but true: we will accompany you inside the movie set of the Vigata Commissariat, with the unmistakable room of Commissioner Montalbano

There were four of us, all fans so we had immediate common ground. We were ready for cold drinks by the time we arrived in Ragusa; for me pommegranite and orange mixed, for David, expresso, John and Kate chose local lemonades. Refreshed were we on our way again. Our trip met all expectations and more. We covered a lot of geography and visited several locations and towns. We took photos at each scene; Montalbano's interview rooms, the Don's abode in Castello Donnafugata, lunch in Punte Secca and seeing Montalbanos famous balcony! And finally the piazza and Montalbano's office. Enrico our guide there was terrific and let us into secrets of the cast and production. This tour was a lot of fun. Guilianna was a great guide and driver, bringing us safely home through a dramatic rain storm.

We booked this 1 day tour only 15 hours and were delighted with the efficient organisation. We were picked up at 8:45 from our hotel in Syracuse by our excellent guide/driver Juliana. We visited 4 different places all made famous by the TV Series of Inspector Montalbano. Each place was unique and we could recall the times we had seen certain locations and buildings. Juliana was very knowledgeable about Sicily and Inspector Montalbano, and had lots of stories to tell us! It was an exceptionally hot day but she took care to keep us cool in the A/C vehicle & to make sure we had plenty of water to drink. As the TV production company are filming 3 more episodes (hurrah)we were very fortunate to see the full set at the Police Headquarters in Scicli. We visited Montalbano's house on the beach and some beautiful Baroque places and a 19th Century palace. Be prepared for quite a long day but unmissable!
