Carmel, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and very approachable. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. A bit disappointed with the customer service personnel we spoke to who did not know where the closest pick-up point is from the cruise terminal in Hobart. As I am expecting all people joining this tour are tourists, they would not know where the closest pick-up point will be to where they are located. We had to nominate the pick-up point after doing our own research which was then changed by the operator anyway to a location (their tour counter) about 700m from the cruise terminal. I just feel that the CS personnel should know the lay of the land more so they can assist customers better.

The cruise I was on had a shore day in Hobart and all I wanted to visit was the Mt Field National Park - to see the Tall Trees, wilderness and Russell Falls. Gray Line offered a tour and the only dilemma was whether the ship would dock in time and I could get to Brooke Street Pier in time for the start of the tour - 9.15am. I had informed them that there might be issues and they generously offered to wit until 9.25am. Sadly, the ship docked later than expected and even though I was one of the first to disembark, I got to the pier at 9.35am. The backup plan was to meet the coach at their first stop. That meant getting a taxi to Salmon Ponds - the trout farm - a 45 mins taxi ride away - AU$115 fare. It was worth it. I got to the farm just before the coach did and joined them for a complimentary morning tea - European style pancake with Valhalla ice cream - delicious. There was time to explore the grounds and gardens - lots of interesting ponds - different types of trout and even a platypus. Onwards to the Tall Tree walk - a relatively easy guided walk with only a few small slopes to manage - its a circuit so a pleasant walk through giant trees and wonderful green tree ferns and mosses. The path isn't sealed but with proper walking shoes not an issue. We boarded the coach and were taken to the Mt Field Visitor centre - cafe and gift shop. A quick 20 minutes lunch break and then a guided walk to Russell Falls. The choice of either a wheelchair accessible walk or a circuit with accessible walk included. Again - the forest delivered its magic. The moss covered trees, tree ferns, trickling water and smell of forest. The circuit part not deemed accessible wasn't difficult but depends on your fitness - no steps or great slopes - just a few places with an incline to manage. Tim our Gray Line guide, provided commentary and with his guidance spotted trout in the river, a pademelon, two green rosellas - no snakes and no falling branches. We reached the falls and there was enough water flowing over the terraces to be impressive. We didn't venture to Horseshoe falls - that involves 250 climbing steps. In truth, we did the best two options for visitors - the falls and the tall trees. We had just enough time to briefly visit a raspberry farm and bought berries - blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. Tour got back to Hobart around 4.30pm - drop offs at hotels and pier. It was a wonderful day out - our guide Tim was very informative and supportive, helpful. He and Gray Line tours did everything possible to help me get on the tour. I am so glad I went and got to experience the Mt Field national park's unique and natural environment. If you love forests and wilderness - then do this tour with Gray Line - office at Brooke Street Pier Hobart. Best day out - enjoy.

Russell Falls well worth visiting especially since Hobart had some rain the day before. Tour guide provided adequate information of the places we travelled through; spent time with travellers getting to know them.
