Pass By: Lake Pontchartrain, New Orleans, LA
After pickup in central New Orleans, it's a short drive across Lake Pontchartrain to Honey Island Swamp, a wildlife preserve that is one of the last protected wetlands in Louisiana.
Stop At: Honey Island Swamp, Louisiana 70461, USA
Your guide welcomes you aboard a custom-made 22-passenger flat-bottom boat. The smaller sized, quiet boat can fit through narrow passages in the swamp foliage so that you see more and get closer to wildlife.
As your guide explains the history of Louisiana’s wetlands and swamp ecosystem, be on the lookout for alligators, raccoons, owls, wild boar, nutria, snakes, turtles, black bears, bald eagles and other bird species. Get a close look at some wild gators as your guide shares facts about the toothy beasts, who can weigh up to 1,000 pounds (453 kg).
Glide safely through the fertile swamplands, learning about Cajun culture and how local people have utilized the swamp for food, homes, and medicine. You even see an authentic Cajun village that is only accessible by boat. Gain an understanding of why the wetlands are slowly disappearing and about the efforts being made to preserve Louisiana's natural treasures.
After a fascinating 2-hour boat tour, your guide returns you to shore.

We chose the VIP boat tour, which turned out to be a superb choice. Captain Neil was a mesmerising, witty and informative host for our over two hour trip. He could answer any question and went out of his way to show us everything possible. This was an absolute highlight of our 3 week trip to the USA. I cannot recommend highly enough.
Thank you so much Neil

The whole experience was wonderful. From being picked up, the tour, and the return trip, everything was perfect. Captain Frank was an excellent guide and captain of the boat. His knowledge of the wildlife and personal experience was a breath of fresh air. Recommended highly.

We were really pleased with our swamp tour. Derek was our driver. He turned up promptly and gave a good, clear and amusing commentary on the 40 minute journey. Once we arrived everything was really well organised. I can’t remember our guides name but he was a local and again, gave a very clear commentary. We saw lots of alligators, raccoons and a snake.

The bus pickup on Canal Street with our entertaining driver Dwayne (the Rock - Pebbles) was an easy start for the 45 minute drive to the swamp boarding area.
Checkin was a breeze and we all soon boarded the boat tour with our knowledgeable Captain Dustin. The boat was almost full with 14 passengers seated in 2 rows facing outwards along the long side of the boat.
Dustin kept the tour entertaining with jokes as well as informative content about the swamp ecosystem. He went above and beyond to give both sides of the boat a great photo shot of the view of the moment.
Don’t forget to get details from Dustin on why skeeter Deet is not needed in the swamp!

We took this tour with seven of my friends and it exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide, I believe his name was Jacob, was extremely knowledgeable in various areas and provided us with stories filled with amazing facts about the history of the region, as well as its flora and fauna. I highly recommend booking this tour specifically with him. We saw a lot of crocodiles and racoons and it was fun.

We were picked up in New Orleans by a friendly bus driver who took us out to the swamps.
We had a very entertaining captain on the boat who I think was called Dustin & we were lucky enough to see numerous Alligators including a 20ft creature called Sindy.
