Stop At: Tifakara Lodge, 300 metros Oeste de la Catarata de, Tifakara Boutique Hotel, Alajuela Province, La Fortuna, 21007, Costa Rica
Our night tour begins with a walk through the internal paths of the hotel, where we have our first frog sanctuary. You will be able to observe multiple species of amphibians, including the frog Agalychnis callidryas (Red-Eyed Frog).
We will continue walking along paths until we reach our second frog sanctuary, a little larger than the first. This walk will allow you to experience the sensations of the tropical jungle without having to experience any danger. The forest always has surprises for us, so it is not uncommon to find on our tour: sloths, nocturnal birds and snakes.

The hotel is blended with nature as it has several frog sanctuaries where many of Costa Rica's unique frog species can thrive. A long hike is not needed as these sanctuaries are right next to the hotel, however there is a more diverse section behind a gate where large insects and snakes can be seen as well.
This tour lasted about an hour and allowed for many great pictures of the local wildlife.

I loved seeing so many frogs. I learned about the types of frogs and their habits. Also, I learned about snakes and plants. The guide, Randall, was very knowledgable and attentive to each of us. Thank you for a great tour

We booked a tour extremely last minute through Viator (about 2 hours before) and they thankfully had availability! Our tour guide, Randall, was very kind and knew a lot about both frogs and flora. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the glass frog, but saw a bunch of red-eyed frogs, toads, swamp frogs, a snake and the “blue jeans” frog. Included with the tour is a free drink that was quite tasty; it had coconut cream and lime I believe. Great value and later than other night tours, which fit our schedule very well. And thanks again to Randall!

Randall was our guide and was great! Very informative. The tour was under 1 hour which was perfect. After our tour my husband and I hung out and enjoyed some drinks. I'm so glad we booked this tour.

We had a great time on this night tour! Randall was our guide and he was the perfect combination of friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about animals. We got to see a ton of interesting animals, including a glass frog and the iconic red eye frog (see picture). Would definitely recommend this tour to people who love animals of all kinds.
