Our tour guide, Thomas, was wonderful. He has studied history and archaeology. He has a passion for the WW 2 sites, having grown up and lived in Normandy. He brought the battles to life with many stories of the fallen and veterans, including many that he met in the past, sharing photos of himself with those veterans. The tour was very interesting and we’d highly recommend it. Thanks Thomas!

Our guide Victor was terrific: he was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and his English was excellent. Also, very personable. We went at the sightseeing aggressively. Although we could not see everything, it was a great and very full day.

We went to all of the stops, as stated, but were late starting the tour because the van had a couple to pick up at the train station, and the train was delayed. Also, the same couple had to be returned to the station so the tour couldn't be extended to accommodate the shortened time frame. Our guide, while she could speak English, was only moderately proficient and hard to understand. She was very young, not from the area, and only able to give you the scripted highlights of the tour. It was evident, listening to other guides at the sights, that there was so much of the history and viewing that we were missing. I would not recommend this tour company; there are much better tour operators with knowledgeable, proficient guides, and there is very little difference in cost. Additionally, we are accustomed to being provided with at least water on long tours. There were very few opportunities to stay hydrated, so it would have been helpful to have a notification/advice that water would not be provided and to bring your own.

This Normandy tour by Gold Beach Company was absolutely fantastic. I attended with my 24 year-old son in May 2024. The highlights: 1. Our guide, Alex Uren, was top-notch; he was an expert on the topic, but more importantly he was very personable and took great care to be sure that the 8 members of our group were both learning and enjoying the experience; I also loved his dry wit! 2. The extensiveness/length of the tour; we stopped at Omaha, Utah, Pointe du Hoc, the American Cemetery, Sainte Mere-Eglise, the museum at Utah, and had lunch in Carentan with an unscheduled tour of that notable town as well; if you have an interest in D-Day, this itinerary does not disappoint. 3. Despite a wide variety of background knowledge of Normandy among the 8 guests, topics were explained in both a basic/broad level, but also in fine detail with a deep dive into certain areas; again, Alex was adept at this. I would request him if at all possible.

Kate is simply the best tour guide one could ask for. There was no limit to her knowledge of D-Day and World War II. It wasn’t just her grasp of history, but also the back stories and revelations of the people who lived it. We came to Normandy to see where my father landed a week or so after the initial invasion. Thank you, Kate, for helping make this moving day very special. Mark Gale

Our guide Lucas was wonderful. I highly recommend requesting Lucas if you take a private or group tour. His knowledge of the American DDay sites was deep and he had so many stories of bravery and historical events to share at each stop. We had ample time at each of the five stops to visit and ask questions. He was able to arrange a ceremony with the staff at the American cemetery at the headstone of a relative who fought and died in the war. It was so thoughtful and so very meaningful.
