Inconsistent. Trouble getting started on one tour. Had to re-download one of the tours, entire process to determine what was wrong and reset took 30 min. The Kapaa tour failed. Tried downloading again and it failed. Again, wasted time, this time an hour. In my humble opinion, better software development would fix the issues we experienced. Advise against spending your time with these.

The North shore driving tour was so much fun. We were able to see sites that we would never have known existed. The video tour guide explained so many wonderful things about the Island and the stories were fun and educational! I highly recommend doing the North shore video tour!!

If you have a car and want to see some cool spots without booking something with a large group, this audio tour is absolutely the way to go. We found some amazing spots due to this app, and even though there were times when our cell signal waned, we still had the guide talking to us and telling where to turn and giving tips and trips on cool things to do. Just be sure you download everything and do the tutorial before you go so you know how to get started. You’ll be using the map/GPS on the app once you arrive at one of the starting points. So that’s the only thing that makes it a little tricky. The suggestion for a hands-free holder in the car is a great one—or a really good passenger navigator. We got great pics and there were awesome stops all along the way. We didn’t have the parking permit so we turned around at Hanalei but it was still a fantastic tour!!

Enjoyed listening to the music and stories along the way made the trip so enjoyable. The roads we took let us see more than we would have just staying on the main highway.

Great app! FYI, there are not multiple 'starting points', but only one starting point. We drove to an alternative starting point to begin the tour, and the first thing it did was...send us to the other starting point! lol Hey, we were in Hawaii, and it was beautiful, but I'd recommend that they make it clearer. I still give the app 5 stars because even though it was the first Shaka tour we did, we quickly figured out how to maximize the app, and it was very enjoyable. You can go here or there and use it as you like. Stories are fun, and interesting, and show you things that you'd otherwise miss. Well worth the cost! We ended up getting a second for a different part of the island. Even if you are vaccinated (as we were), I’d recommend waiting on a trip to Hawaii until the Covid-related mandates are lifted, as they clearly diminished Hawaii’s “Aloha” spirit. Also, be aware that various amenities are missing and mask mandates are extensive, and extend even to the outdoors (truly, and in practice). You absolutely should not go if you are not vaccinated as most businesses will deny you entry.

We got this audio car tour on a whim. We were just looking for something to do on a free day. I must say that I didn’t really expect too much but it really delivered. You can take as long doing this tour as you want, it just tracks your gps and picks up wherever you are on the map. It also gives some local history, one place it tells you to drive up and look at Kong mountain, which was cool but up that road was a man selling fresh mango bread so we decided to stop and it was amazing so glad we got some, also the gentleman selling the bread was so friendly and fun to talk to. I will say if you are going to do one of these tours just get it in advance and see where the stops will be and if you need to purchase entry or get an appointment. We weren’t able to get in to a couple places like the lighthouse but we were able to go to the lookout which had beautiful views. Other than that it was a lot of fun and took us places We would never have found on our own. I would definitely purchase again for other areas or islands.

My husband is always looking for something new to do and this app was awesome for that! We love Kauai and thought we knew quite a bit about the island having adventured there just a couple of years ago but this took us to places we would have never know of otherwise. We learned some history along the way as well. It was well worth taking the time to have it installed before we left the mainland. We would definitely recommend!

The Shaka guide was the best purchase on our vacation. I highly recommend it to those who want to get out on their own to explore and see what the tour companies show you without having to ride around in a bus. It was easy to use and gave a lot of interesting information about the islands. The guy is a little hokey at times, but you get used to it. It was the easiest way to get around and not get lost. Reading a guidebook and searching for roads doesn't allow for an enjoyable ride. This does. I wish they'd have something like this in all areas where one wants to explore without a tour.
