Itinerary
On this trip we combine the excitement of snowmobiling with experiencing the northern lights dancing across the sky. We take you along the old postal road up to the very edge of Finnmarksvidda to a mountain range called Beskardes.

Meet us at our Æverntyr Adventure Store in the city center 5-10 minutes before the start of the Tour. From here we will drive you to Gargia Valley, approx. 25km from Alta.
18:30
We arrive at Gargia Lodge. Here you will meet your guide and get a briefing about today’s trip. You will also receive thermosuits, boots and gloves for the trip.
19:00
After getting dressed you will receive a safety briefing on the snowmobiles. Now we are ready and can start our adventure.
20:00
We will arrive at Beskades. Here we will take a short stop and enjoy the amazing view in all directions before heading back down to Gargia Lodge.
21:15
We arrive back at Gargia Lodge.
22:00
We will drop you off in the city center where we started our trip.

We can pick up our guests at the cruise ship harbor or at our Adventure Store in the city center.

Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
Only the holders of a valid B class drivers license are allowed to drive a snowmobile in Norway. You are required to present your license for verification before taking part on the ride. Guests without a valid driving license are only allowed to be passengers.
You will share a snowmobile with another passenger, so each of you will get to drive half of the trip.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund

What an amazing experience from start to finish. This excursion was the highlight of our 15 day cruise and was booked independently from the Ship’s excursions.
We were picked up from the Cruise Terminal, on time, driven to the lodge where we were fully kitted out in Arctic clothing.
There was a full induction on how to drive the Snowmobile. At the Top we were treated with a hot local drink, which was amazing as well as samples of the local chocolate. Along the way various points of interest were pointed out. We even experienced heavy snow showers on route.
The night ended with a tour of the lodge and. on our way back to the cruise terminal Jakub stopped the Van at a site where we were able to view the Northern Lights.

Would love to stay at the Lodge independently at some point 😊

The equipment was first class the pre-brief was fantastic, Rogers knowledge of the aurora was first class. The trip was fine but just seemed to much like a trail route well used and not really what I expected.

Absolutely fantastic! Rodger was so helpful and full of information about the Northern lights. We stopped part way to the lodge when he saw a good clear spot and we actually got a fantastic show of lights! Rodger provided us with hot drinks and helped us with taking good photos.
We then continued our journey to the lodge and got onto the snowmobiles for a breathtaking journey to the top of the mountain with another show of the Northern lights on our way back down!
He then got us back to our ship in the nick of time to sail off to our next destination.
I would 100% recommend doing this!

The guide Rodger was great. Very professional. Unfortunately no lights, but that's nature I guess. Was one of the best experiences in my life. Highly recommend and would definitely do again

Impresive tour in the middle of nowhere from Gargia Lodge to Beskades under a cloudless sky full of stars. WONDERFUL. Guide very friendly.

Excellent host fantastic experience, unfortunately cloudy night, lights didn't come out to play. That was the only disappointment (we know that's luck of the draw) putting that aside good time had by all. Freezing at -20 at top of mountain

Everything was perfect and really well organized. We were the only booked people that day so we ended up getting a private tour which was super fun and quite an adventure. It was cloudy and snowing so no lights but since we saw the lights another day already, this was actually better because these conditions created a very unbelievable and surreal atmosphere high up the mountain. Our guides, Marion and Jakub, were super helpful, very nice, and they told us many interesting facts as well as gave us tips on what else to do around the area.

Even though the weather conditions stopped us from actually seeing the northern lights, the snowmobile driving experience was unforgettable thanks to our guides, Marion and Jakub, who were an absolute delight to travel with: knowledgeable, engaging and always safety conscious. Highly recommended.
