We invite you to our Aurora Camp, where our professional guides will host you for the evening. Above our center, located 30 minutes away from Tromsø and the city lights, the night sky is dark and well suited for northern lights watching. While you wait for the lights to appear, your guide will give you some insight into the natural phenomenon Aurora Borealis. You can also cuddle with our 300 huskies and their puppies and learn about the dog sled racing, breeding and animal welfare on a guided tour of our kennel. Our thermal suits and boots will keep you warm in the arctic winter night!

In our cozy Gamme-hut dinner will be served around an open fire. Try Bacalao, a traditional Norwegian fish dish with Portuguese roots made from regional produce (vegetarian option is available upon preliminary request) and a piece of our signature chocolate cake. While you eat, your guide will keep a close eye on the sky and inform you about any Aurora activity!
After dinner there is time to watch the northern lights, take pictures and say goodbye to the dogs, before we head back to Tromsø.

This tour does not include dog sledding.

Excursion booked through Hurtigruten . My wife is disabled and in a wheelchair. Hurtigruten emailed the husky sledge centre at Kvaloya to see if they could accommodate a disabled person. They replied they could. We arrived on a coach ( wife already kitted out in appropriate clothing) they helped move the wheelchair to the husky enclosure and bought a husky to her to pet. They made special arrangements to transfer her to the husky sledge. The ride was an incredible experience. After the ride they helped transfer to the hut where we had the most delicious chocolate cake and hot drinks. Can’t thank staff for being so accommodating and making what seemed an impossible experience so enjoyable.

Such an outstanding night of fun! We loved playing with all the sweet huskies and learning about their jobs. The guides were incredibly generous and kind. After playing, we went inside for some warm coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Then we were served bacalao stew and focaccia with a brownie like dessert. Vegetarian options available. The food was so comforting after being out in the cold. After dinner, we headed out to the campfire where we roasted marshmallows and learned about the northern lights. Some of the lights did peak out and gave us a show! All in all, an unforgettable experience.

Great experience and highly recommend it. The staff was kind, caring, and genuinely felt they wanted us to have a great time. Time with the dogs was great…there were some characters in the bunch for sure! We were fortunate enough to experience the northern lights as we were with the dogs, which made it pretty amazing. Even if you don’t get to see the northern lights, I would book the experience. Only thing I’d recommend is to suggest for guests to bring shoe spikes in case of icy conditions. Would definitely make it easier and safer getting around to the dogs .

Let me start off by saying that I love huskies, so for me this was right up my alley regardless if I saw the NL or not. The amount of time you got to spend with the huskies was perfect. Some wanted to be played with while others just wanted to be left alone. Even though the snow was coming down it was still a perfect evening. After about 90 mins of play time, you were taken into the hut and provided a meal. This was a proper meal - I had the bacalao stew, and it was phenomenal. The hut was great, very warm a great spot to have a meal. Unfortunately weather was not on our side, and it snowed the entire night. They did a give a good recap of Aurora's history and then we were off on the bus back to the hotel. All and all it was a great night, I would certainly do it again

We didn't get to see the Northern Lights there because it was cloudy, but it was still a great experience. Both the people and the dogs are super friendly, the meal and hot drinks was delicious. We were explained how the dogs require a lot of activity and how they run tens of kilometers every day. Many of them clearly were ready for a rest as we've arrived in the evening, but some still had energy to greet the visitors. We also got to slide downhill on the snow with a mattress, which was fun.

First things first, we didn’t see the Northern Lights as we had 100% cloud cover and snow on the night we went, but that was where the bad news ended. The dogs and guides were wonderful! Some dogs wanted to sleep but others adored the cuddling and the pets. We got plenty of time to wander around the 200+ dogs and visit them all before heading into a nice warm hut for fish soup and delicious chocolate cake. After dinner, when you normally would see the lights, we sat around the fire and roasted marshmallows and went for a fun toboggan ride down a small hill near by. Felt like a kid again!

Even though the weather didn’t cooperate for us to see the Northern Lights, we had a BLAST visiting with the huskies! They were so overjoyed and playful. We even got to meet some of the 5 month old puppies. Our guide Adrian was really informative about the Northern Lights and about the roles the huskies play. Adrian also made for a memorable experience by having us sled down a great hill. I would do this experience again!

The tour includes a good dinner, some marshmallow roasting by the fire, and of course plenty of time to visit huskies! The dogs are the obvious highlight. They seem well taken care of and get to choose if they want to play with you. Plenty are happy to! I will say, don’t choose this tour as a way to see the lights. If they don’t happen to be above the tour location, you won’t see them. There’s no search and the location does not change. Even still, a very worthwhile experience if you like dogs! They do not disappoint!
