Day 1: DAY 1: HANOI – HA LONG BAY – LAN HA BAY (LUNCH & DINNER)
Stop At: Old Quarter, Hanoi 100000 Vietnam
Pick up at hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter

Stop At: Lan Ha Bay, Hai Phong, Cat Ba Vietnam
Arriving at Tuan Chau Marina,check in procedures at the waiting lounge.
Transfer to Orchid Cruises by a feeder boat.
Passengers will be taking lunch while we cruise and visit Ha Long Bay – Lan Ha Bay - one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.We progress to Trung Trang cave by our bus on Cat Ba Island which is in the middle of Cat Ba National Park with Kim Giao Forest around the cave.
Trung Trang cave located in Trung Trang Valley, The cave is 300m long through the mountain, possessing a mysterious beauty due to the geological tectonics in million years along with many historical vestiges. The cave has many stalactites with different shapes that stimulate human imagination and amaze visitors.
Orchid Cruises enters a less populated area at Tra Bau – Lan Ha Bay. Enjoy a nice swim in the green, emerald water.
Savor a fusion dinner made with the freshest ingredients in a sophisticated space with elegant French neoclassical style and traditional oriental touches.

Day 2: DAY 2: HA LONG BAY – HANOI (BREAKFAST & BRUNCH)

It is a perfect time to refresh and indulge yourself in the peaceful beauty of the bay with a tai chi session on the sundeck. If you want to hunt for dawn, get up from 5:30 to 6:00 depending on the season, and consult our sailors.

We just got back from our whirlwind cruise. It is listed as 2 days but really it’s about 23 hours. A lot is packed into that time (kayak, swimming, cooking demo, tai chi, cave exploration). Unfortunately, for us, it felt too rushed and left little downtime for relaxing. With that said, we were ready to get off and wouldn’t have wanted to extend our stay. Our cruise director kept to a tight schedule (7 breakfast / 730 kayak, etc.) and there wasn’t any flexibility. While it wasn’t the right experience for us (kids 12 and 13), it may be for someone else.
Pro:
- Food is incredible. (There is just too much. One suggestion would be serving just a continental breakfast and then a larger brunch.)
- Benny was exceptional! He went out of his way to learn and remember our names. He made sure our kids had food they liked even offering off menu suggestions. He also played chess with our son.
- Rooms are beautiful and spacious
Con:
- You have to be out of your room at 9:30 and don’t leave the ship until 10:45. They do open the bathrooms on the first floor rooms for use but there is little privacy.
- There were a few add on items that we weren’t aware were a charge (fruit smoothies, soda). This could have been explained upon ordering like they did with the wine.
- The bay is filled with trash. The views are beautiful but it is disappointing to see that this gorgeous spot is not maintained.

I did a 1 night cruise with Orchid Premium Cruises. Dong was our cruise director. There were only 4 other couples, including a mother and daughter group. I highly recommend this cruise - the vessel itself is perfectly constructed, the room is beautifully appointed, full wall of windows to view the dramatic karsts from bed, lovely balcony to enjoy the same view, spacious bathroom. You won’t go hungry - we had 4 square delicious meals. Halong Bay is beautiful and cruising with Orchid Premium Cruises is the way to go, wish we did the 2-3 night cruise.
