I was on the back of a Vespa with a tour guide driver who gave an excellent explanation of the main sites. The weather turned out to be fine and driving around Bologna city and the country side was a wonderful and exciting experience. In effect I had a driver and a tour guide on my own and he was very friendly. The two hour tour was just right and Bologna has such a beautiful country side which must not be missed.

When I booked this tour, there were no reviews on Trip Advisor, so I wasn't exactly sure what we were getting into. Now on the other side, I thought I'd come back and report my experience. Bottom line -- my girlfriend and I both had a really enjoyable time. We met our guide, Francesco, at the Travelhoo office, and then walked to a nearby garage to pick up our Vespas. The Vespas were in good condition and super fun to drive around. We went through Bologna, finding our way to the outskirts and then into the surrounding hills. It was a really nice way to get out of the city and experience 'the Italian countryside', passing by interesting houses, farms, horses, chapels, etc. The roads weren't busy and fun to drive on, especially as we got higher up into the hills. The inclines required care and attention but in an enjoyable way. Francesco was an excellent guide, on and off the Vespa. He was easy to follow, giving us clear directions and preparing us in advance of turns, hills, stops, etc. We stopped at an old hospital with an attached church, a small chapel with interesting artifacts, a mountainside WWII memorial, and San Luca church. Francesco was able to answer all of my questions and offer us interesting information while visiting all of the sites. The views were wonderful, the driving was fun, I'd definitely recommend this tour.

We made a 2 hours tour of Bologna's surroundings, we stopped several time in great places and got explaination about the History of the places. We also made a stop in a café on one of the hills. The scooters are great, Alessandra is calm and is giving good explainations. We had a great time with her wandering on the hills. Castle, church, wood bridge, San Luca, hospital, etc... I strongly recommend this tour !
