Start your tour with the one hour lake boat transfer from Luzern to Alpnachstad. After leaving the bay of Luzern, the boat glides along the shore of Hergiswil and Stansstad to the bay of Alpnach. On the entire boat tour you have the surrounding mountains in sight.

Alpnachstad is the connection point between the lake boat and the steepest cogwheel train in the world.
Within 35 minutes the cogwheel train climbs along the ridge and passing alpine meadows to Pilatus Kulm.
Stop At: Mount Pilatus, 6010 Alpnach, Switzerland
Arrive at the mountain station Pilatus Kulm of the Pilatusbahn, where a viewing terrace, a panorama gallery and two mountain hotels are located on the scenic local mountain.
Visit several attractions at Mt. Pilatus like the dragon gallery, the viewpoint, the scenic terraces and the multimedia presentation.

Stop At: Fräkmüntegg, 6010 Kriens, Switzerland
The largest rope park in Central Switzerland, tree tents, the toboggan run, hiking trails and fantastic barbecue areas invite you to relax.
Duration: 30 minutes

The Krienseregg is perfect for families. In the versatile local recreation area you will find marked, varied circular hikes and large picnic areas

In terms of population, Kriens is the third largest municipality and the second largest city in the Swiss canton of Lucerne. It lies at the foot of Mount Pilatus and borders Lucerne to the east.
At Kriens you leave the aerial cableway and after a 10 minutes walk to the bus stop, you board the local bus to Luzern.
Pass By: Lucerne Train Station, 6003 Lucerne, Switzerland
From Kriens, the local bus takes you within 10 minutes back to Luzern, where the tour will end.

Please note: Boat and coghwheel railway will operate Mai to October only. Off season, the tour will be performed by travelling to mount Pilatus both ways by gondola, the tour will be finalized with a 1-hour tour on the lake Lucerne by panoramic boat after the return travel from mount Pilatus.

Highly recommend this tour! I have used Viator in many different countries and have never had anything less than a great experience. Our guide Aneh was beyond amazing. She was organized, made efficient use of the time, so knowledgeable and answered all our questions and she was fun and friendly! The views from the top of mt pilatus were breathtaking, transporting from bus to boat to cog train to cable car was all effortless. Have recommended Viator to all my friends and will always use on future trips!

We had clouds at the top of the mountain but otherwise had a wonderful day on the lake and mountain. Our guide Adrian was helpful and informative.

What a great day! The gondola ride, the tram in the sky, the steps to the peak where we actually got snowed on, and then back down on the cogwheel train was all amazing. Plus our guide Adrian was wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly and fun to be with. Highly recommend.

No issues here so have no concerns that you might be left stranded or that your guide doesn't speak your language or that the tour is somehow altered or changed. However at the price my partner and I were surprised at lack of basic historical facts so check the resume of guide if you are a stickler for detailed knowledge of experiences in this tour.

The train up towards Pilatus is amazing and very steep. It gives you a perspective on how and where people actually live! The mailman was with us this day, and he delivered mail and milk to a small farm om 1300 meters up. It was really amazing on the top too, with shops, restaurants and several hikes to chose almond. On the top we had lunch and suddenly we thought there was rain, but we did actually sit inside a cloud. I do not like heights so at one point I actually did cry a bit because I was so scared, but I do not regret the trip, and I would do it again.
On our way down we did go gondola cable, one big for maybe 20 people and then a smaller one for 4 people.
I will never forget about this trip and I that one day I will be able to take it once more.

The mountain is fantastic and well worth the trip.
Our guide was local and very helpful.
The rating is due to aviator selling a package (cog rail train) which is closed in winter. We paid for a specific experience and aviator did not deliver nor send us any notification of a corrected itinerary

Our trip with Oscar was terrific! He had all the insider tips for getting on the railway as quickly as possible, so we had the most amount of time to explore the mountaintop. When I asked him a question about something he didn't know offhand, he got an answer for me immediately. Everything was smooth and easy.
