Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Poas Volcano National Park, Poas Volcano National Park, Province of Alajuela

The Tour will start with pick up at your hotel to take you at Poas Volcano, as we ascend the mountain, we will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful array of colors and visuals.

There is a noticeable change in temperature and vegetation, preparing us for the pleasure of the exuberant cloud forest of the Poas Volcano.

The Poás Volcano, is an active 2,708-metre (8,885 ft) stratovolcano. The crater of the volcano is over a mile across and 1050 feet deep.  It has erupted 40 times since 1828, including April, 2017.

At the Volcano we will have time to enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles.

Stop At: Fraijanes, Fraijanes, Province of Alajuela

Then enjoy the coffee tour at the first Costa Rica farm in the world

Here in Costa Rica, at the foot of a spectacular volcano, something magical is taking place something much bigger than coffee.

Coffee Farm is our first and only coffee farm. We came here to work the soil, learn from the land and channel our passion into positive change.

Now we invite you to rediscover coffee through the human experience. Once you visit, you too have ownership in its future.

Experience the miraculous journey of coffee at our immersive new Visitor Center. Get a hands-on look at a working tree nursery, wet mill, drying patio and roaster. See what we’re doing to empower farmers, promote sustainable practices and develop the next generation of coffee. Tours are available in English and Spanish.

Excellent tour! Darío knows the best time to go up and see the volcano. He also took us to some very beautiful places not included in the tour. Great professional!

This was a long day filled with many activities! First we went to the Daca coffee farm, a great tour, then off the Starbucks coffee farm, another gem. After that, we visited Poas Volcano followed by a wonderful lunch and then off to see some waterfalls. Our driver definitely knew how to drive the crazy winding roads in Alajuela! Well worth the trip!

The pick up was on time. That is where the good points stop. The van was very dirty, and none of the seat belts works despite the driver saying they did. One other person was picked up and we headed to the Starbucks plantation. We arrived an hour and half ahead of our scheduled tour time. So the driver suggested we get a coffee which we waited almost half an hour for. The next tour was in Spanish so the driver suggested we drive around for an hour until our tour time. He got lost on the way back and had to drive recklessly to get us back to Starbucks for our tour. After the tour we stopped for "lunch" at a local soda. The lunch was very basic, and certainly not what we had expected for the price of the tour. After a quick lunch we headed to the Paos volcano, which was supposed to be our first stop. We had to rush up to the volcano, only to find out the trail to the lagoon was closing for the day. The driver then told us we could go, so we hurried up the trail to the lagoon. We returned to the van, after the driver had said he would take us to see some birds to make up for the tour. We opted not to. On the way back the other person on the tour had asked about the waterfall. She had paid for that stop as part of her tour and was told there was no time. The tour information indicated that bottled water would be provided, none was. The information provided indicated that we were getting a guided tour, we only got a driver not a guide. We paid almost $400 (cnd) for this tour and definitely got less than $100 worth of value. Viator would be well advised to distance themselves from this tour operator. They are at best a rip-off, and very close to a scam.
