Itinerary
The adventure starts with being picked up very early in the morning by our guide from one of several designated locations in Stavanger. After a 40-minute drive, we arrive at the start of the trail (where restrooms are available). When everyone is ready, and the headlamps are on, the hike begins. The landscape is dark and quiet. If the moon is up, it casts a ghostly light over us. The towering trees in the forest make the imagination run wild! The pace allows for time to adjust clothes and equipment, time to rest and enjoy snacks.
After ca. 2.5 hours of hiking, we will arrive at Preikestolen, 604 meters right above the legendary Lysefjorden. The sheer cliff overlooks the fjord, and the panoramic view before us makes for a fantastic reward after all the work it took to get there. If we are lucky, the sun will show itself as it climbs over the mountain ridges, and bathe us in warmth, and amazing light.
After we have enjoyed the scenery and relaxed for a while, we head back down. It normally takes about 2 hours to get back down to Base-camp. In the comfort of the mountain lodge, we will enjoy a simple, but fresh and tasty breakfast. Exhausted but satisfied, we get back in the car.

The Sunrise Hike to Pulpit Rock was an incredible experience. Erlend and his dog, Balder, were the best guides. While the hike can be done without a guide, so much would have been missed without Erlend’s expertise. Also, there’s something so very special about hiking with a dog - Balder brought so much joy to the day. Erlend was attentive to our capabilities and went out of the way to take many gorgeous pictures - two which are attached to this review. Of course, it helped that the weather was on our side, but even without perfect conditions, the view would have still been a stunner. We were allowed all the time we desired to absorb the beauty of the sunrise. After the hike, we visited a local bakery for the most delicious meal. The bread in Norway is out of this world. I highly recommend doing this specific tour. Definitely in my top 10 experiences!

This trip was incredible and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to go. Erlend is an amazing, friendly and knowledgable local guide. His dog is adorable and made the trip even better. The trip was very well organised; and I was catered for at breakfast as a coeliac (gluten free) without any hassle.

The experience was really awesome. The pickup was sharply on time. Hege knows everything about hiking in that area and was accommodating to all of our different needs.
I was deciding between this sunrise tour and the normal daytime one and I'm happy to report that the sunrise one is the BEST decision. You arrive when noone is there yet and got time to leisurely enjoy the view and take as many photos as you want. No waiting in line. It was so peaceful and incredible. The view is absolutely stunning, as gorgeous as the photos appear or even better. The hike was pretty easy and I estimate if hiking alone you could do it in 1.5-2hr since it's only 4km each way and low elevation.
I did it on the first week of October and once you arrived at breakfast they already started to clear everything up since it's a little late so you get a sandwich instead of the proper buffet breakfast - but honestly the sandwich was surprisingly so good - i think it must be even better than having the generic breakfast spread that you'll get if you do the tour in the summer!
Overall, highly recommend!

Hiking in the dark with a torch towards the brightening sky was magical! With each overcome hill, more and more beauties of local landscapes opened up around us. And, most importantly, without any crowds of tourists striving to fill all the free space. We were able to fully appreciate it, having already descended, watching the caravans of people starting their ascent.
