On the company's website we have information that it will be a 3-hour tour with a view of some places in the city, such as the burj al arab. It's actually a 1.5 hour tour and doesn't show several sights like Atlantis and Burj Alrab as the website mentions.
Site:
"What’s more; you can even catch a glance of such eminent sights as Burj Al Arab, Atlantis, The Palm Hotel, and Palm Jumeirah during the cruise. (false)"
The ride is cool. The bad evaluation was due to the broken promise regarding the time and places of visits, as mentioned on the website.

Well organised and relaxing river cruise in the evening and to see the lights of the city. Food was a buffet style if you like that style of dining.

This type of cruise really should not exist in my opinion. The trip started with loud Indian music playing over the PA, I was obviously expecting some Arabic music (Did I mention I am in Dubai?). When it came to dinner buffet surprise surprise really bad Indian food. So far very very very disappointing, then came the actual cruise section. You are basically floating around an unknown body of waker, with unknown landmarks surrounded by a whole bunch of Indian people. There is no guide about the landmarks you are passing whats so over. Only saving grace was the Egyptian Tanoura dance at the end. It was a surprise and was surprisingly entertaining (hence the poor rating and not terrible).

Pick up is at your hotel. The walk to the boat along the canal is nice. Note that it is crowded and each dhow carries a lot of passengers, so boarding takes a while.
Once aboard, opt for the top open deck as the lower deck is enclosed and really warm and stuffy, plus the guitarist/singer is there which increased the noise level.
The buffet is varied and quite good. There are 2 stations-one for all foods and desserts and the other for shwarma wraps and chicken and lamb skewers.
It's fascinating to see all the buildings and marvel at the architecture. Be sure to bring a wrap as it gets a little chilly on the upper deck.

The only reason why I didn't rate this five star is because I felt that there could have been more food options and dessert. If you have dietary restrictions try and make this known before hand.
There is entertainment on-board but the dhow cruise I took wasn't exactly among the most scenic route of Dubai. So, think about that when booking! Do not expect to be served alcohol unless they specifically state that.
The boats light decorations are really spectacular. I enjoyed that.
