Henk was wonderful and particularly accommodating for us as we didn’t realize we were traveling during King’s Day when we booked. The tour is comprehensive and details various time periods throughout history. We were especially delighted to see one of the oldest lesbian owned bars in the city and to meet the new owner. Henk is a great guide. He didn’t shy away from particularly difficult points in history and sprinkled in humor throughout. This ended up being the first thing we did in the city and it really set our trip off to a good start.

Henk has great knowledge of the queer history of Amsterdam. Even as a Dutch person, most of it was new to me. The personal touch in his storytelling was the cherry on top.

I booked this tour with Henk when I spent a few days in Amsterdam in November, and it was a real highlight of my trip. I was travelling solo, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Henk (and his friend on this particular occasion!) was an extremely interesting and knowledgable tour guide, and it was equal parts fascinating and heartbreaking learning so much about the LGBT+ history of Amsterdam. On top of this, Henk was also very kind and easy to talk to and ask questions to during the tour. Could not recommend more highly!

Compelling stories of Amsterdam’s rich LGBTQ history at every stop! From gay resistance fighters in World War 2 to the oldest gay bar in Amsterdam, this tour was fascinating from beginning to end. The guide held our attention, even in the freezing cold weather! (It was December.) Highly recommend for anyone, but especially if you have LGBTQ people in your family. My trans teen loved this tour!

A personal, powerful storytelling tour surfacing queer history in Amsterdam and untold stories. Henk is an incredible guide and a wonderful human being- and this is a very special tour that I wholeheartedly recommend. Even if you think you know history - let alone queer history - there’s something here for you to learn.

Henk is a great ambassador for Amsterdam and the LGBTQ community. Personable, funny and intelligent, his sharing of stories and history is nicely interwoven. I have participated in LGBTQ walking tours in NYC and Vancouver, and Henk's tour is one of the best.
