Putu lives in her ancestral village in a traditional family compound. When you arrive you will meet her grandparents, her husband, Pasta, as well as their three children. Putu learned to cook as a child, helping her grandmother prepare the daily meals. Her cooking skills have grown into a career and personal passion. Putu works as a cook at two private villas, creating fresh and creative Balinese dishes to delight her guests. She takes pride in her presentation and artfully decorates the dishes with delicately carved fruit and vegetables. At home, she is responsible for making the temple offerings, from the small offerings to the large fruit towers that she carries on her head during temple ceremonies. Putu also makes homemade jamu, traditional health tonics made from turmeric.
Putu’s grandparents are rice farmers and you will be served their homegrown rice with the meal. Putu and her family will take you on a tour of their compound and show you their family temple and explain about the objects in the temple. They have a lovely orchard where they grow jackfruit, cacao, durian, coffee and bananas. They also keep pigs, ducks, chickens and a cow.

What a wonderful family and host. I spent the late morning and afternoon learning from the best teacher how to cook a traditional Balinese meal. Puta was kind, patient, and welcoming. She explained everything clearly and made our meal memorable. 5 stars!

This was one of the highlights from our trip to Bali! Putu and her husband picked us up from our hotel and took us to their home where we were immediately given fresh coconut water in the coconut! It was so nice to go to their village away from the chaos of Ubud. We loved hearing about Balinese culture and walking around their farm where they grow most of the food. Putu was such a patient and kind instructor, and the food was delicious! We would highly recommend this class to anyone!

Putu and this entire experience was incredible! It was one of our favorite things we did in our entire Indonesia trip. Putu and her husband Pasta picked us up from our hotel and were so welcoming. Being invited into their traditional Balinese home was an incredible experience. And of course, the food we prepared with Putu, as well as the conversation and knowledge we gleaned from Putu was invaluable! We made so much food and it was some of the best we had our entire stay. We 100% recommend this activity - it's unforgettable. I can't wait to make these recipes at home and share Indonesian and Balinese food with friends and family. Thank you Putu!

We are a family of 4 with an active toddler and had such a good time at the cooking class. Because it was private we could take our time. My little one was very happy to be there. The family hosting us and the food were amazing.

Putu was our host. She and her driver picked us up promptly from our villa and took us to her lovely home. She taught us how to cook traditional Balinese cuisine with ingredients from her garden. The food was delicious and she is an amazing woman. I would highly recommend her if you are looking for an authentic experience.

We have been to this balinese cooking class today with Putu and her family. Oh my goodness, her recipes and the food are so much better than the restaurants we have been to in Bali. You don't just get a cooking class but you experience the Balinese family lifestyle, their culture and their home. Almost every ingredient was grown in the very large garden so was as fresh as it can be.
We loved everyone of the dishes she taught us to make and she sent the recipes to us after the class for us to make at home.
This class is worth every penny with Putu and I would urge anyone who visits Ubud to book her class.
Thanks for a special day. We will definitely be cooking the recipes when we get back to the UK.
