Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Golubac Fortress, Djerdap National Park, Golubac Serbia

The guide will pick you up from your address in Belgrade at 9am (start time can be customized on request) and after two hours drive your first stop is the captivating Golubac Fortress. This Medieval town is placed at the entrance of the Iron Gates and touches Danube waters with part of its walls. Many legends are connected to this fortress and four of them are in relation to its name. You'll learn more about the place from your guide who will accompany you during a walk through the fortresses towers, gates and walkways. NOTE: Golubac Fortress is closed on Mondays.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Boljetin bb, Lepenski vir, Donji Milanovac 19220, Serbia

Straight from Golubac you'll continue down the Danube through the gorge and after 30 minutes you'll reach Lepenski Vir – the oldest organized settlement in Europe. The settlement was founded around 8000 BC and lasted till 4500 BC when people of Lepenski vir moved on. The archaeological site is in perfect condition and it consists of several parts. Uniqueness of this place, is the fact that the whole settlement was relocated from its original location retaining absolutely the same items and set-up from the time when people of Lepenski Vir lived there. On the spot you'll learn about the discovery, why the site was relocated and more about why this settlement is important for European civilization.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Iron Gates, Romania

Tour continues through the town of Donji Milanovac, towards the prettiest part of Iron Gate, gorges Mali and Veliki kazan (Small and Big boilers), two ravines which are the reason why the gorge is named the Iron Gates. While you admire the views over the Danube which divides Serbia and Romania, your guide will explain everything you need to know about the spot. Along the way you'll admire huge statue of Dacian king Decibel, carved into the rock on the Romanian side of the gorge.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Zeleni zaliv, Naselje Obljaga Mare, Donji Milanovac 19220, Serbia

After walking and enjoying the views we stop for a deserved lunch break. Best possible place to experience true hospitality, food and charm is a small family eco-village where you'll have a chance to try traditional local food. Authentic surroundings on the Danube bank, scenic view over the river and great food will be a treat for all your senses.

After lunch we will take you back to Belgrade where you'll arrive in the evening.

A wonderful day, with a wonderful guide and host, that ended in the best meal we had in Serbia. Many thanks to Mishka for the history lessons and the informative conversations. He was both interesting and interested- not sure it gets better than that!

We had a wonderful day trip. First we saw the fort and wandered around. Lots of personal touches and what I enjoyed was the guide Andrija taking photographs of us, as I am always the photographer and therefore never seem to be recorded as being on holiday. Lots of interesting facts learnt about Serbia and the areas we were travelling to. Lepenski Vir was interesting. The highlight was the boat trip through Iron Gorge, lots to see. Then lunch at a unique family run little place. Andrija was such a pleasant young man and very attentive. Really enjoyed experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed this full day tour with Miljan who was more than happy to answer all our questions. The wonderful lunch of traditional Serbian food in the garden of a private home was the highlight of the day and the views of the Iron Gate gorge were amazing. Miljan went the extra mile to take us to the narrowest part of the gorge which was much appreciated. We were delighted to later receive some lovely photos Miljan had taken during our tour, great memories of an excellent day!

We booked 3 consecutive day tours with Andrija from Serbia Private Tours. Each day was excellent, really surpassing our expectations of what we might find. Lepenski Vir is a world class site of supreme importance in human history. And Viminacium and Felix Romuliana were equally fascinating, brought to life by Andrija. He provided great hospitality and interesting conversation on the long drives regarding Serbia past and present. Highly recommended!

From the moment we booked this tour direct with Serbian Private Tours via their website, to the follow up email after the tour enclosing the photographs Miljan had taken of us, we experienced a level of service second to none. I am a natural worrier and I emailed with a number of questions in advance and Miljan answered fully and speedily and put my mind at rest. You can tell the difference between a small family owned and run organisation (Miljan's wife sent the confirmation ) and larger ones: Miljan genuinely cares that you have the best experience possible and we did have an amazing day. The mix of attractions was well thought out - an impressive fortress, a most unusual archaeological site, the iron gate gorge and well worth doing the optional boat trip and finally a delicious buffet in an outdoor venue with the most wonderful views. I would recommend Miljan without hesitation.

I tend to be a rather "hands-on" travelers, which means I normally don't take private tours, but since we were a group of 4 people, I figured this might be a good option and boy, did we make a good choice! Absolutely loved everything about the tour: the wonderful service and conversation of Miljan, the comfort of the vehicle, the gorgeous sites, the delicious place we stopped by for lunch.. and the unexpected surprises like professional photography and souvenirs at the end of the tour for no additional costs! This tour is also a very time efficient way to see a lot of Serbia from Belgrade, so I highly recommend it!

Wonderful day trip with a very knowledgeable guide. The views were incredible, and the lunch was one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant that felt like you were eating in the garden of Eden, We asked our guide every question we could think of on a variety of subjects and he answered them all. An absolute must do in Serbia.

We went for a day trip during our summer holidays in July and the day started with a lot of rain & wind. Dragi (our guide) was fast to explore the options how to make our trip work but at the end we decided to stay with the initial itinerary and we did well! Dragi was knowledgeable and happy to answer any of our questions even when they were not related to Lepenski Vir & Roman period of Serbian history. The weather got better during the day so we went on a boat trip to Tabula Traiana (might need to be booked in advance) and the view of the beautiful gorge from the river on a sunny afternoon was fantastic. All in all we had a great trip, we felt that Miljan & his team took good care of us from the start till the end and we will be thinking of our next excursion with them next time we are in Serbia.
