Stop At: Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Dalmatia
The first set of walls to enclose the city was built in the 9th century. In the middle of the 14th century the 1.5m-thick defense was fortified with 15 square forts. The threat of attacks from the Turks in the 15th century prompted the city to strengthen the existing forts and add new ones, so that the entire old town was contained within a stone barrier 2km long and up to 25m high.
Regardless of whether you are visiting Dubrovnik for the first time or the 100th, the sense of awe never fails to rise when you set eyes on the beauty of this old town.
Although the shelling of Dubrovnik in 1991 horrified the world, the city has bounced back with characteristic vigour to enchant visitors again.

Ante was the best guide! He made sure we went to the best places to see Dubrovnik from above. And, his mom made us dinner and we shared time at his family’s house. It was an amazing experience, great from start to finish!

Ante was an amazing guide. He even brought us to his family home for a special meal. We saw Dubrovnik from an overlook no one else knew about, the best view of the city. He is so knowledgeable and kind. It was an unforgettable day!

We had the most wonderful time traveling throughout Hungary, Croatia and Bosnia with Ante. We could not have asked for a better or more accommodating tour guide. He spoke wonderful English, gave us fascinating information, was more than willing to change a plan or stop when needed and was a wealth of knowledge on everything from Covid tests to random sightseeing questions. The highlight of our 4 days with Ante' was the farm to table experience at his family estate. His Mother made the most delicious and memorable meal we have ever had. I only wish there was an Ante everywhere we travel in the world. Thank you Ante!

We took a full day tour with 8 adults from Split to Dubrovnik. It was a long drive and he kept us entertained with stories of local culture and history. He also arranged for a wonderful guide to meet us in the old city. She was able to give us insight into what we were seeing . The best part of the whole day was the meal on our way back at the farm. The food was special and incredibly fresh., We all felt like special guests in the most beautiful farm house. It was a special experience.

Our party (4 adults) had an UNFORGETTABLE farm-to-table lunch with Ante Rupcic. The Peka (traditional meat cooked on an iron cover), the prosciutto, the homemade bread, the pomegranate juice, the cherry grappa, the white wine, the cheese cake and Turkish coffee made the lunch unforgettable. After lunch, we visited Ante's home in the hills and were very encourage by the return to their family roots via all the restoration done with their original homes.

We had the privilege of taking a day trip from Split to Dubrovnik in October 2018 with Ante as our tour guide. 6 adults and 2 kids (9 and 11 yrs old). Very informative, educational and entertaining. The highlight of our trip was the dinner at Ante’s family farm. Amazing food, beautiful scenery, lovely homemade wines and grappa, mouthwatering homemade cheese and prosciutto. A truly unforgettable experience that we will continue to talk about for years to come. For our next trip back to Croatia, the first email will be to Ante to set up another tour.
