Itinerary
Join us for the start of our mushing season and experience the excitement as the dogs rejoice to be back in harness again after a summer long mushing hiatus. Mush on a comfortable side-by-side as the team splashes through puddles and yips with pleasure.
Fall in Alaska encompasses 3 months of the year, when temps start to drop and the scenery changes vastly from one day to the next. Foliage is short lived and only lasts for a couple of weeks. Once the leaves drop, we start going through what we call 'freeze-up' when the puddles, ponds, sloughs and rivers start to glass over. It is a very important time of year, as many of the winter trails utilize these bodies of water and if snow comes too early, it takes longer for these to freeze over. In the later part of the fall season, snow will slowly accumulate in light dustings. We typically do not have enough snow to convert from a SxS to a sled until December 1st, as we need to wait until we have at least 3'' of base to safely run a sled.
What to expect:
September: Warm during the day, green leaves changing into fall colors
October: Cold days, leaves dropping from trees, snow accumulation
November: Winter-like conditions

We had the time of our lives with this first-time experience. From the start of the tour, Laura provided us with backgrounds on each dog, their behaviors and passions. We can clearly see that these dogs love what they do from their enthusiastic barks and wagging tails. We loved every minute of our tour. Laura is an expert and passionate guide. We recommended this tour to anyone who'd love to try it.

This was a wonderful experience. We learned so much about mushing from Chase, our guide and dog owner. We had a very enjoyable ride through the beautiful snow covered woods by incredible mush dogs. Stopped along the way for Hot Cider and hot chocolate. Dogs were very friendly and enjoyed interacting with them. There is a Mongolian made Yurt at the site — very interesting to see and cozy to warm up in. An experience not to miss! Thank you Chase!

My wife and I were celebrating our 8yr anniversary. So we decided to do a mushing cart experience. Laura (Lauren) did an amazing job! She made us feel like we were part of her family. Her pups were so well behaved and she knew exactly which one would act up during the ride. Having her communicate with her team was so cool to watch. My wife and I enjoyed every bit of it. Titan was my favorite. He and I bonded as soon as I got to the place. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone. Make sure to bundle up and wear face mask and glasses.

Chase was so great and we loved hearing the story of each of his dogs. My daughter and I had a great time and I really enjoyed seeing the yurt as well!

The team of dogs is incredible! 10 friendly pups who love pets and licking faces, pulling a 2,000 lb. UTV through the beautiful fall foliage. Chase was a VERY knowledgeable tour guide with a great sense of humor, friendly demeanor, and shared his fascinating dog sled stories.

Had a great time, and met some wonderful characters - Kev (dog), Titan (dog), Carl (dog), and Laura (human), to name a few. Laura was very knowledgeable about the area - letting us try some wild berries, for example - her dogs, and had real world racing experience, which was fun to hear about. A great experience with someone who deeply cares about what she does. Thanks!

4 of us booked private ride with Last Frontier. Laura was our guide/host, and she was fantastic! We learned a lot, got to pet and hug a lot of dogs. It was so much fun to see them run! An easy tour to recommend! A tip - if you are close to the dogs, they are very excited and will jump on you, so wear clothes that you don't mind getting muddy so you can give them lots of love!

Hoped to see fall foliage, but had lots of snow fall instead. The snow made it feel like it was a real dog "sled" ride. The dogs seemed to love running in the snow. Chase was a great guide. Would highly recommend.
