Itinerary
This is a 2-hour surf lesson. With our 3-1 student-instructor ratio (groups up to 10, same family or same travel group only, we do not mix you with strangers), you will spend the first 20 to 25 minutes learning all you need to know about surfing. Safety, paddling, how to get up and surf! The rest of the time we’ll spend it in the water helping you catch waves. Pushing you into waves, towing you in the water and coaching are all part of the surf lesson. Don't just send sign up your kids, surfing is for ALL THE FAMILY!

Where to start?
Value: I researched the available options. Made decision based on rating, cost/hour, and private vs semi-private vs group. This came up on top. So that's boring quantitative analysis portion.
Lesson: Our group of three was the only one for this lesson -- so 100% private. There were actually two instructors for us, so it was a 3-2 student/instructor ratio until our friend called it quits early resulting in a 2-2 ratio (not 1-1 since instructors helped out whichever student was ready to go). None of us three had any prior surfing experience; our only similar experience is snowboarding (which I can't tell if it helped or not, aside from determining if we're goofy or regular). At first, I was questioning if the advertised 20-25mins of pre-surfing learning was really necessary, but am super happy about it because Federico basically drilled in muscle memory into all of us. After not being able to surf on my first four attempts (meaning 4/4 on wipeouts), the other instructor (apologies for not remembering the name) helped me fixed my problem by watching my attempt then correcting my error, resulting in a much better subsequent attempt and then finally a successful surf (and many more after that)! Quality lesson from Keep It Simple Hawaii!!
Miscellaneous: Come prepared! Bring a enough reef-safe sunscreen to cake yourself in it because once you hit the waters, you don't want to come back to shore for a re-apply. Also, bring lots of drinking water as that was the first thing everyone wanted once the lesson was over (because everyone ingested so much sea water from all the wipeouts).
Final Thoughts: Current 5-star rating is well deserved! All three of us agreed that the lesson/service provided was top-notch. Unfortunately, our tip was limited by the amount of cash we had on us at the time. We were so happy about our experience that we did not hesitate to purchase the photo package to remind us of this wonderful experience. This was only our contingency event, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it being a planned main event on your itinerary if you're looking for a fun, semi-challenging, water sport.
PS: Half-way through the lesson, a sea turtle popped its head out to watch us surf! :) We all slept well that night. :) Anticipating a "Mahalo for booking your surf lesson with us!" reply. :)

The instructors were patient and encouraging. We had a blast and all surfed easily with their expertise. The last time I went surfing it wasn’t the same experience. This was awesome

The best part of my week long trip to Maui! Our instructor Matius was Very helpful with getting my girlfriend and myself up and surfing.(we’ve never surfed before) I would 100% recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to surf. Great for beginners. Best money I’ve ever spent on a trip.
Also,
Something I learned is that surfing is 90% paddling out into the water so it can be very tiring.

This was one of the Best events we did in Maui !!! I highly recommend the private group surf lessons !!! We were lucky to have Matias as our instructor, he was patient and personable and was the BEST instructor,,, if you are thinking about this ,,, just book it,,, you will be glad you did !!!

Perfect location. Parking, shade, no crowds. Have had surf lessons on other islands that were crowded. Patient instructors. Photographer with zoom lens optional.

Bruised my rib-not enough time to learn before put into water. No one to help on shore. Younger family members did ok. Must be in good shape.
