Stop At: Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi), No.1375 Xiongmao Avenue the Outside Northern Third Ring Road, Chenghua District, Chengdu 610081 China
Meet your friendly English-speaking guide at your hotel lobby and you’ll head to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Spend your morning with the cutest, yet impressive, creatures in China! 3 hours inside the Panda Center, tour through the baby and adult panda areas. On a guided tour, visit different sections of the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development. Visit the baby garden, where you can see giant panda cubs born in summer, which weigh only about 3.5 ounces (100 grams) at birth and by the third month are able to walk on their own. Then stop at the sub-adult garden, where the adolescent pandas hang out, and see the adult garden, which houses the giant pandas in all their full-grown glory. Take pictures of this endangered species eating bamboo, sleeping or frolicking about. Finally, visit the red panda section to see these small adorable animals and try to spot the sleeping red pandas stretched out on branches in the red panda garden.

Traveler pickup is offered
Departure point: Free picking up service from your city hotel or residence in Chengdu (all hotels within 3rd Ring Road), if you stay outside the 3rd Ring Road, then need to be picked up at the main gate of Wuhouci, or please contact us in advance to arrange to be picked up from your hotel or airport and pay extra cost to driver.
Return point: Returns to original departure point or can be drop-off at the city center.

Customers who book the panda volunteer option will tour the Dujiangyan Giant Panda Center. The center is approximately 90 minutes away from central Chengdu.

Wells was a good guide. Punctual at hotel. Showed us practically the whole park without stress and helped us with carrying our buggy down the stairs 😄 thanks Wells. Saw few pandas actively as we had an earl pick up at 7:30AM . Prepare for loads of tourists though .

Booked the half-day option and it was amazing! Sylvia was an awesome tour guide and we had a seamless pickup/tour/drop-off experience. Be ready to get your steps in, the park is massive & we were able to see all of it. Would definitely recommend this if you're planning to check out the Panda Base while in Chengdu!

This tour was great! As a couple that can only speak English, we would have found it super difficult to navigate the park on our own so we thought a tour would be the best option. We were picked up from our hotel and the tour was private with a guide called Jason. I could write a whole review on Jason alone, super kind and interesting person, very attentive, and perfect English speaking. Would 100% recommend.

Wells was an excellent tour guide and very knowledgeable about the panda site. It is worth going in the morning if you plan on going in hot weather (summer time) as the pandas get too hot by the afternoon and will go inside. We still saw 10+ pandas but mostly indoors.

Wells was an outstanding guide at the Chengdu Panda Research and Breeding Base. His warm personality and exceptional English made us feel instantly comfortable. He shared fascinating panda facts throughout our tour and even helped us navigate the area and catch our train afterward. I highly recommend Wells for an informative and enjoyable experience!

Great tour. Even though our hotel was outside the official pickup zone, the tour operator responded quickly with a clear solution for pick up. Our tour guide, Wells, was on time, friendly and knowledgeable. He knew the shortcuts through the Panda reserve and where to go to most likely see the animals. He was attentive to our needs and a really pleasant companion. A great morning excursion despite crazy rain!

What a great decision it was to book this. Sylvia was great. Pick up was perfect. Nice van with waters. Dropped us and Sylvia near front. Easy to get through front gate and she was able to navigate us to the best places to see the pandas. Not having to deal with getting tickets and navigating where to go once there was so great. She also had a wealth of information about the center, history, pandas, etc. it was so worth booking this. Best decision we made on our trip. The place is huge and takes a few hours to see all of the areas. Beautiful setting for the pandas.

The tour guide gave us excellent recommendations on when to leave the hotel and the best route through the Panda Breeding center. We were able to beat the crowds and have more time to enjoy the Pandas than most other tourists. During the tour we saw three baby pandas (six months old) and a number of adult pandas, as well as a number of red pandas. My son said it was the highlight of our trip to Chengdu.
