Stop At: Lake of the Restored Sword (Hoan Kiem Lake), Hanoi 100000 Vietnam

The tale goes that Le Loi King came across a shining metal bar when he visited his friend. It turned out that his friend caught the bar in one of his attempts for fish. The King asked for the bar, brought it home and moulded it into a sword. All of a sudden, there was two words printed on the sword “Thuan Thien” (harmonious with heaven).

Le Loi then understood that the sword was a gift from heaven. He used it for the battle against the war with a neighbouring country. At the beginning of 1428, when peace prevailed, on one of his trip to the Thuy Quan (now Hoan Kiem) Lake, there was a tortoise rising above water and shouting: “Please return the sword to the Dragon King”. Without hesitation, the King threw the sword to the lake. The tortoise took the sword and dove down the water. From then on, Thuy Quan became Hoan Kiem lake.

Travis was such an awesome tour guide! If you love learning about the history of Vietnam and Hanoi landmarks, then Travis has gotten you covered. He's very well versed in the history of the land and speaks great English. The food tour was great and he was very adaptable to changing the itinerary if I wasn't feeling something. We chatted about video games, music and life :P Travis was super personable and I felt like I was eating out with a knowledgable friend rather than a robotic guide.

Me and my partner booked a ticket for private tour by motorbike and street food walking tour on Klook. Our guide, Bucky, Martin and Travis was really a good guide. I can’t describe how good they were in explaining us the history of each food/places. To be honest, you wouldn’t know any history if you roam around the city without a local beside you. Me and my partner learnt a lot of things during our stay in Hanoi because of Bucky, Martin and Travis. We understand that they are still a student, however the way they carry the guide responsibility was beyond our expectations. I can see that they were genuine in sharing the history of Vietnam and we were in AWW. Describing our experiences here with them is not enough. I would heavily recommend anyone to go for this tour at Hanoi. From this tour, the agency will message you a day/few hours before the tour for reminder. For motorbike tour, they will pickup you at your place and street food tour, you will need to go to their office. Thank you Bucky, Martin and Travis!!!

We had an amazing half day scooter tour with Leo and Ruby. We were a bit nervous (we are in the 60+ age group!), but we need not have worried. They were great drivers and we felt safe despite the chaos of the Hanoi traffic! They were generous with their time and we got some fabulous insights and excellent English skills. We had some great food stops along the way. We feel like we experienced Hanoi in a unique way that we will remember for a very long time. Thoroughly recommend this tour.
