Itinerary
Our private group surf lessons for 3-10 people give the entire family or friends a chance to share in the fun of surfing in a safe and comfortable environment. Rivers To The Sea instructors are highly trained and focus on water safety as well as personal surf instruction and support during the lesson and of course having a ton of fun! Groups of 6 or more require another instructor to maintain our 5:1 student/teacher ratio. We do not combine guests from separate parties for group lessons. All lessons offered are private for your party.

Outstanding. Caine was awesome, and we all were able to get up after a few tries. I have gone in the past with large outfits and had 1/16 of the experience

Our family of 6 took surfing lessons while on vacation. These guys are fantastic; They were even able to persuade my reluctant 11 year old to surf, and he had a blast. I would highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again.

We went with Eric and he did his best to give us a positive experience despite the less than ideal conditions at the time of the lesson. He was obviously experienced, communicated important safety information clearly without droning on and on and made sure we all caught some waves. He was able to break down what I needed to focus on succinctly and made recommendations for what boards to rent for the rest of our trip.

Kody was so knowledgeable and great with the kids. He is extremely experienced, on time,
enjoyable and had all equipment needed for the surf lesson. We had a great experience and would highly recommend Kody and Rivers by the sea.

What a great experience! Eric was an amazing instructor and everyone in my group had a blast. Being 100% beginners, we were so surprised we all successfully got up on the surfboard (multiple times!), but it was definitely thanks to Eric’s guidance! Had we not done this on our last day in Maui, we would have booked another lesson for sure. Location was great. Highly recommend!

What a fun day! We had two wonderful and patient instructors for our group of 5. They taught us the basics and then were right along with us as we practiced our new skills! Most of us were successful thanks to their guidance. Very communicative group and obviously have lots of experience!

My three kids (21, 19 and 16) have never surfed before, took a private group lesson from Sharky and rode multiple waves! He did a great job teaching and practicing the basics of getting up before they went into the water, and he was out there with them giving feedback while they surfed.
Sharky did a nice job communicating with me the day before, explaining where to meet him (he changed the location at the last minute due to wave conditions). He even put a beach chair on top of his car so we could easily spot him!
The lesson was 1:30 long and I was initially worried that it going to be too short, but that was plenty of time! All 3 kids were exhausted from the paddling (and they are all in pretty good shape!) and were ready to call it a day at the end. Though none of them really wanted to try surfing again this trip, all were glad they had experienced it and have a new appreciation for how hard it is!

This is our first time surf and we all enjoyed the time. Our instructor Anne-Marie is amazing. We all learned the techniques form her and kids were doing great on the wave. This is definitely a great activity we enjoyed the most in Maui.

Our instructor Kyler was so patient and thorough with all three of our children. He was able to successfully teach all three kids to get up and ride the boards. Our youngest lost his glasses and Kyler called us several hours later and told us he had found them in the surf. He waited for us to meet him for 20 minutes to retrieve them. Excellent experience all around!

We were first time surfers- we had never surfed before. My husband and I took our three girls ages 10, 10, and 8. We were nervous but Jason was very informative, a very good teacher and helped us learn. He was great and very patient with us. We all got up on the board and surfed many waves. We weren’t sure what we were signing ourselves up for, but we couldn’t be happier that we did this experience while in Maui. Such a wonderful life experience! We all had the best time! The kids are hooked now!
