During a private, one-on-one surf lesson, you will receive personalized instruction, customized to help you achieve your surfing goals. Private, one-on-one lessons are perfect for first-time surfers who want to learn the fundamentals of surfing or for intermediate surfers who want to improve their skills, practice catching bigger waves, or carving better turns. These surf lessons are done with a fun and professional instructor by your side throughout the entire hour and a half lesson.

Absolutely an incredible experience. We took our 14 year old who had never surfed before and he had the most amazing time. Eric had him standing on his 3rd try, made the whole thing so much fun. We had such a good time that we booked him again for 3 days later, we were lucky because with Maui only just reopening meant there was a chance for him to go again- loved it that much. They send very, very clear directions and you can connect with them by phone once you are near marker 12.5 to find each other. Never a problem or worry, will definitely do this again when we are in Maui- they just couldn't be more amazing.

Eric was wonderful! He trained me how to stand up on the surf board on the beach. He was really good at teaching me how to surf. I caught several waves. I had never snowboarded, wakeboarded, or even skate boarded and I STILL got up on that surf board and ride the waves. He was extremely friendly and fun to talk to in between waves. I highly recommend this excursion!!

Kody was an exceptional instructor. He made me feel comfortable right away and very safe even though I was a first-time surfer. He spent time talking about the proper techniques so that when I was in the water, I was ready to surf. I would not hesitate to recommend Rivers to the Sea and specifically, Kody, to anyone looking for a private surf lesson in the Lahaina area.

What a wonderful experience, and I am so glad I was able to cross surfing off my bucket list. Can’t wait to do it again when back in Hawaii. I was extremely grateful at Kyler‘s patience and expertise! Highly recommend!!

The whole surfing experience was marvelous. Sharky is an excellent instructor - very patient, skilled, and encouraging. He helped me stand up on the first try. And it only got better from there. Everything about the experience was breathtaking. A turtle popped up right next to me as I was sitting on my board and you could see a whale thrashing its tail just a few hundred yards away.
Sharky is wonderful. As an added bonus, he stuck around with me past the scheduled time of the lesson, until my body gave out and I couldn't ride another wave. He clearly loves what he does and he's very good at it. Plus he's a kind, lovely person. Ask for him when you book!

Had a great experience with my instructor Eric and Rivers to the Sea. The booking process was easy, they had a good selection of dates and times during my vacation. Eric scouted out the surf location before my lesson and ended up moving locations to ensure that I had the best experience. I hope to be able to book with them again next time I'm on Maui.

Izzy was great from start to finish. At 51 with no experience I was a little nervous but wanted to cross off a bucket list activity. Caught the bug and already planning next year's trip to catch a wave with Izzy!

I had a one- on-one private lesson with Eric - super experienced professional surf coach who provides logical guidance & tips which work. He's not too serious & makes it fun. I also had a turtle pop in on my lesson :-). Highly recommended & a highlight of my trip to Maui

Based on great reviews, we booked 3 private lessons for our family recently and had a great time! Our 8.5 year old and 7 year old both had a blast and immediately wanted to go surfing again. Our instructors were Anne-Marie, Izzy and Stephanie and would definitely surf with them and Rivers to the Sea again.
