Stop At: Taormina, Taormina, Province of Messina, Sicily
Your personal tour leader will pick you up at your accommodation/port in Taormina area, and you will start your wonderful private travel to the highest active volcano in Europe. Driving by comfortable, air-conditioned car through the small authentic mountain villages, you will admire unforgettable picturesque views of Sicilian countryside full of oranges and lemon plantations, olives and almond trees, houses and churches built of lava stone. Enjoying amazing sea view and lava fields, you will arrive to a charming mountain town Zafferana Etnea, where you will visit local honey farm and taste the produce of the fertile volcano land - honey, olive oils, olives, wines and liquors. Then you will continue to drive up the volcano and reach the plateau Rifugio Sapienza at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. Here you can feel the exceptional atmosphere of Etna volcano, admire the lunar landscapes, see the famous Silvestri craters, visit small shops where you can buy souvenirs made of lava. Optionally, you can ascent with cable car and jeep with the authorized Alpine Guide until 3000mt for additional fee (65 Euro).
After this atmospheric journey, the guide will chauffer you in relax to one of the best wineries at the foot of Etna. The owner of the winery will welcome you with a glass of cool white grillo, and you will have a tour of the estate, see how the grape is growing, and visit the cellars, while the owner explains you all about the wine making process and the history of this family run winery. Then you will sit on a beautiful terrace with an amazing panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and have traditional delicious lunch of locally produced cheeses, salami, prosciuttto, home-made sausages, cous-cous, mushrooms, vegetables, fresh bread, olives and home-made olive oil. A professional sommelier will offer you 5 glasses of Sicilian Etna DOC red and white wines. After the tour, your guide will drop you off at your accommodation or port in Taormina area.

We had an absolutely wonderful day with Elena. She was so knowledgeable and friendly, very professional and made sure we were comfortable on Mt Etna. She made the excursion so delightful. Definitely a highlight of our trip. She also took fabulous pictures of us. She is a great photographer.

The views and terrain were absolutely stunning. We took so many amazing pictures of the beautiful and changing landscape from Taormina up to Etna. Corrado made our experiment extra special and took some fabulous photos we would not have been able to capture otherwise. The private wine lunch with my husband was amazing because we have been traveling with friends for the last few weeks and so it was a much needed and special private lunch full of amazing food and FABULOUS wine!
I highly recommend this experience!

First time in Sicily, Unforgettable day exploring Etna and indulging in Sicilian wines.
Departing from Taormina along with a scenic drive towards Mt Etna, the landscape transformed into a magic volcanic terrain, adorned with ancient lava flows and lush forests.
Our funny and knowledgeable guide Maurizio shared us with Etna's geography history and its profound influence on the region's culture and viticulture.
The highlight of our tour was undoubtedly the tasting session, where we savored a curated selection of local boutique wines at a cute & neat vineyard. They cultivate local grape: Nerello mascalese to make white wine which tastes like beautiful minerality shining through it, alongside touches of sweetmelon fruit.

Although it was a foggy/rainy day, our May 1st tour was fantastic. Etna was cold, wet, and windy but still worth it. The stop at the winery was also fun. Wine and food were perfect. Also, our driver Corrado went out of his way to help us get the necessary medical attention for a medical issue.
I highly recommend the tour.

We had a most fabulous time! Mt Etna was incredible, the scenery magical, and the wine and food tasting delicious. The winery we visited was beautiful. Marc, our guide was amazing! He was very kind, very knowledgeable, and simply all around pleasant to be around. I highly recommend this tour and especially also Marco.

Daniele was our tour guide and was amazing. He is so knowledgeable and made our tour a lot of fun! This is a MUST see tour. I’m sure all of their guides are great, but Daniele is exceptional! The communication with the company via WhatsApp was also very good.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and educated us on the geology and the history of Mount Etna. We enjoyed exploring a lava tube and hiking to the top of a crater with wonderful views. The wine tour and food was also amazing.

Maurizio was the best tour guide! He is extremely knowledgeable with the history and interesting facts about the area and Mt Etna. The winery tour was truly an amazing experience. The food and wine are incredible.
