Post-twin cyclones there is no cafe or handicrafts at the moment, just the simple tour, but it's nice to learn more about the operation overall, and the chocolate tasting is very satisfying if you're into testing your palate and identifying the island-by-island differences.

We chose not to do a tour but took ourselves there. It is a small enterprise, basically a group of shipping containers with a verandah and cable table. I'm not sure if the tours are being held as it was quite disorganised, there was a small group of people there at the time. We purchased two large blocks of chocolate to help them on their way. More conveniently, the Aelan Cafe downtown would be a better option.

I went with a friend while we were staying in Port Vila and it was a great learning experience. The team here are so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and they do it very well. Highly recommend

Aelan (Island) Chocolate Factory is a small enterprise that produces an incredible variety of award winning chocolate bars. Nestled in its tropical gardens, the factory has a unique setting, and unique tasting chocolate. Taste test the five chocolate varieties, each created from cacao beans from one of five Vanuatu islands. While prepared to an identical recipe, each carries the individual flavour of its own island. Compare, and pick your favourite! Aelan also produces flavoured chocolate including coffee, turmeric, ginger, cocao nib, chilli, coconut and, would you believe, kava chocolate! Sadly they aren't selling from the factory post Covid, but pop into town (Port Vila) and buy lunch and an assortment of chocolate delights (cakes, biscuits crepes etc) from the Aelan Cafe. Load up there with all your favourite chocolates to take home. A very enjoyable, very tasty experience!

Firstly I would like to say Roger Roy from Blue Express took us on an Island Tour which was great to accommodate wheel chair friendly travel. We visited a few places & I must say the Chocolate factory was a stand out of the day. Interesting how the process of making the most beautiful flavours in chocolate. Congratulations to all involved. Also the ramp facility was great wheelchair access.

Visited Aelan chocolate makers as part of a tour today - it was awesome! The guide that took us through their operation and sampling did a great job. Very informative and not rushed. The samples were excellent - worth the price of admission. Would recommend this as a stop on your Vanuatu adventure.

We went there on a whim and did not regret going. We enjoyed the tour of how the chocolates were made and had an amazing time tasting the chocolates. Our son (9 years old) is not a big chocolate fan but he enjoyed the chocolates here. Our daughter (4 years old) had fun looking at the machines, tasting some of the chocolates and saying hello to the house cats. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. We definitely recommend that you go. All up, we spent about 30 minutes there, enough time for my young kids to have fun but not too long that they get restless. Great experience, definitely recommended!

This was a very quaint chocolate factory. The staff were lovely and was nice to see chocolate being made in a hot climate. The tasting was pretty good too.

We visited the Aelan Chocolate Factory with a view to seeing a working factory. Unfortunately there was no production when we went, but the guide still gave an informative talk in front of each display. It was quite interesting. At the end of the tour you can sample many different varieties of the chocolate they produce, and they are all made using locally sourced ingredients from the various islands of Vanuatu. The Kava chocolate was unusual...I had the tiniest amount and my tongue felt quite weird. The coconut chocolate was my favourite. The chocolate blocks aren’t cheap, but they are worth the price. So much nicer and more pure than a normal block like Cadbury’s. Definitely worth a visit...half an hour is probably long enough to see everything and try the samples.

This was a bit over rated. A very small space even though there was only 6 of us. It wasn't what I was expecting.
