No trip to Maui is complete without a trip to Paia, Maui’s coolest little town. Located on the North Shore, Paia started as a plantation town with the opening of Paia Store in 1896 to serve the needs of the multi-cultural plantation workers of Paia Sugar Mill.

Stop At: Pua'a Ka'a State Park, Hana Highway, Maui, HI
Pua'a Ka'a State Wayside is a charming and lush stop along the Road to Hana on the island of Maui, Hawaii. This wayside, situated in a rainforest setting, offers a serene escape into nature. Visitors are welcomed by dense vegetation, including towering bamboo groves, vibrant tropical flowers, and thick ferns.
One of the main attractions at Pua'a Ka'a is the picturesque waterfall and natural pool. The cascading water creates a tranquil ambiance, inviting visitors to cool off in the refreshing pool or simply enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. The area is often dotted with colorful birds and the soothing sounds of nature.

This stunning beach, located on the eastern coast of Maui, is a result of the gradual erosion of volcanic materials, which has created sand that is black in color. As you explore the beach, you'll be mesmerized by the contrast between the dark sand and the crystal-clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. The high mineral content of the black sand also gives it a subtle sparkle, making it a breathtaking sight.

Stop At: Ke‘anae Point, Maui, HI
As a visitor to the area, you'll be awestruck by the majestic Ke'anae Peninsula. This impressive finger of newer lava stretches out from the Hana Highway's cliff line for half a mile. Even before reaching the turnout, you'll catch glimpses of this scenic wonder from various lookouts along the way. Ke'anae is a historically significant village that has been cultivating taro for centuries, and today, much of the land is still used for taro lo'i farming. It's remarkable to think that the soil was brought down here basket by basket, but it's true since the area is made up of young lava rock that was created quite recently (in geological terms) during a massive flow from Haleakala.

Stop At: Ke'anae Arboretum, Hana Hwy., mile marker 17, Ke'anae, Maui, HI 96708
Located adjacent to the Pi'ina'au Stream, the Ke'anae Arboretum features terraces built by ancient Hawaiians for cultivating taro, which was a staple of their diet. A paved walkway measuring 0.6 miles runs through the arboretum, showcasing a diverse array of timber, fruit, and ornamental trees from different tropical regions of the world, many of which are labeled with nameplates. With over 150 types of tropical plants, including taro, the arboretum is an excellent spot to observe native flowers and marvel at the vibrant bark of rainbow eucalyptus trees.

This spot is known locally as one of the best places for cliff diving into the water, making it a must-visit destination. The drive to get there is absolutely worth it, and once you arrive, you can either jump off the cliffs yourself or watch the locals do their flips. What makes the Venus Pools even more special is that it's where the island's fresh water meets the ocean, giving you the rare chance to be in both fresh and salt water at the same time. So pack your swimsuit, bring your sense of adventure, and prepare to make unforgettable memories at the Venus Pools!

As part of our tour, we will make a stop at Ho'okipa beach, one of Maui's most picturesque beaches. It's the perfect place to relax after a long day of exploring the Road to Hana. Aside from swimming and snorkeling, you'll have the chance to spot Hawaiian Green sea turtles, known as honu, that frequent the area. Be sure to keep a respectful distance, as they are protected by federal and state law. The best time to view these amazing creatures is in the evening, when many honu stroll onto the shore to rest and take in the stunning Hawaiian sunset.

And drop off was so easy. Communication was great the day before and day off. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Maui. He made sure we saw most if Maui. He truly catered to his clients and made sure we had seen all that we wanted to see. He treats you like family. Highly recommend him as your tour guide.

Our guide Chris is very knowledgeable. He gave us a lot of information, and we felt very safe traveling with him. He made sure to stop at our requests while also giving us suggestions and tell us where to get the best photos. It's really clear that he's passionate about the island and sharing its beauty with us.

Shayne went out of his way to customize an experience that was truly wheelchair friendly.
He stopped at every location we requested and cheerfully helped us with our wheelchairs. He made what could have been a big disappointment into a wonderful day.

Very interesting trip. Saw the exciting coastal views and experienced some local food. Due to our revised cruise departure times we only got 5+ hours of tour time. But we were very pleased with the tour and so glad we picked it - as it gave us maximum time to see what we wanted to see.
Only disappointments were the tour guide was 40 minutes late and time was important to us and she not only demanded the gratuity but told us what she expected!! I did pay her request but it was as if it was part of the bill!!

We highly, highly recommend this road to Hana tour. It was an exceptional experience. Luke was a fabulous and knowledgeable guide who delivered a wonderful and tailored to us experience. We got to walk on the white, red and black sand beach, adventure through a lava tube, eat the best huli huli chicken, see waterfalls, shop artisan Hawaiian gifts, buy chocolate from the farm that grew the ingredients, see turtles on the beach and so much more. It was the trip of a lifetime and Luke was the most attentive and perfect guide.

Our Experience Hawaii "Road to Hana"tour was exemplary. Our guide, Matt, was excellent in coordinating our plan and pickup; his knowledge and presentation was exceeded only by his willingness to make the tour specific to our desires; most importantly to us, he was an outstanding docent and a good man. Best tour experience ever!

Shayne is a 5 star tour guide all day every day. Not only does he have the best personality, and is so easy going, but his knowledge of the island and the culture is so impressive. With our four small children in tow, he made sure we all had the most magical experience at some truly amazing spots that we will treasure for a lifetime. We were so lucky to have him. #turtlerescue
