This fun-filled Class II-III white water rafting tour and zipline tree-top canopy combo tour begins with pickup at your La Fortuna hotel (please note: there will be an additional charge for hotels outside the immediate La Fortuna area). The bus may stop at other hotels to pick up participants. Shoes that stay on your feet are a must, and please make sure they're appropriate. Sorry, no flip-flops allowed!. Also make sure to pack a backpack with change of clothing and toiletry articles.

Prepare for the first half of your exciting outdoor experience as guides instruct you on the ins and outs of controlling your speed on the ziplines. Soon you’ll be ready to soar across the rainforest with the assistance of well-trained canopy guides, where you'll glide along the seven most extreme zipline cables of the park. Begin with an adrenaline filled climb up an 18-meter high tower (54 feet) to fly 120 meters (360 feet) high over the canyon - the highest place in the park. You will cross a hanging bridge to the longest cable -- 980 meters (0.6 miles) -- high above La Fortuna Waterfall with great views of downtown La Fortuna. Finally you will glide across the cables at high speeds -- up to 70 km/hr (43 mph)!

At the end of this section, your guides will provide a delicious tropical fruit snack before you begin your next adventure on this combo tour. Jump back in the 4x4 vehicle waiting to take you to the Balsa River where the day’s excitement is kept alive with an action-packed ride down the Class II-III rapids of the Rio Balsa. Once you arrive at the rafting "put-in" spot on the banks of the Rio Balsa, your guides and safety kayakers will instruct you on how to paddle, the basic moves, commands and safety procedures you will need to know before you embark on a wet and exciting ride. As you raft down the beautiful Balsa River, drink in the majestic foliage of the rain forest as you watch for monkeys, sloths and toucans while you raft. Enjoy a swim, tropical fruits and cold drinks during your break from the action.

After loading the gear on the bus, you will leave for your lunch spot, which is a tour on its own. A delicious, typical lunch is served at a traditional country estate designed for guests to truly experience Costa Rica’s peaceful country life. You will come to understand the meaning of Costa Rica’s favorite saying, “Pura Vida!”

After you finish lunch, you will ride back toward the town of Fortuna. You will have plenty to talk about tonight as you recount your thrilling experiences from this day that is sure to be the highlight of your vacation in Costa Rica.

The bus will drop you back off at your La Fortuna hotel between 4 and 4:30 pm.

This was 100% worth the money. The zip line was a little rushed, because you had to leave by 10 to get to the river on time. Pictures $25/person. We did 7 zip lines. We got snacks on arrival to rafting company, 50 minute bus ride to the river. Guides were awesome. We got fresh fruit half way through. Then we went to the farm for a costarican lunch around 3. The food was amazing. We also got a sugar cane demonstration at the end. I was not expecting a jam packed day. Pictures for rafting $40/group. Hope this helps for planning!

One of the most thrilling days we’ve had in Costa Rica. The zip lining was probably the most intense but the views were incredible and we’re both glad we did it. Afterwards we went rafting with Wave rafting. Daniel was very friendly and kind throughout the short bus ride to the river. My husband and I rafted with Jonathan who just made the whole experience even more fun. Definitely book if you want to experience adventure and create unforgettable memories!

Our experience with this tour was incredible! We were in a group of 6 for the zip lining which was a perfect size. Our guides for zip lining, Eric and Eduardo, were great and so good at helping us get the most out of our zip lining experience by explaining the optimal positions to be in and making adjustments for each person’s weight. The wave tour company really took care of everything, transporting us to and from the zip lining and providing us with a break to change, rest, and eat snacks (provided) before heading out to go rafting. Rafting was an unbelievable experience! Our guide Sassy was so great, and even though it was my first time rafting I never felt uncomfortable because he did such a good job at guiding us through the rapids. He is an expert on the wildlife and much of the ecological history of the area, and being able to learn as we were rafting really enhanced the experience. He let us practice our Spanish as well, and encouraged picking up new words related to the activity. His many years of experience as a rafting guide clearly show in his ability to engage the group while delivering clear instructions and keeping us safe. Absolutely an unforgettable part of our trip! The lunch afterward was fantastic as well (probably one of the best casado style meals we had on the trip). This tour is absolutely worth the money and was probably the best thing we decided to do in costa rica.

We started the day zip lining with Eric and Eduardo who were both clearly very experienced and enjoyed their jobs. They added to the fun of the zip lining while giving us tips on how to enjoy it more. A sprinkling of jokes from both guides was also fun. For the water rafting portion, our guide’s name was Sassy. Sassy was an excellent guide. He gave clear directions and made good conversation and jokes. He has been guiding rafting adventures for 14 years and the experience showed. The trip included a free Casado lunch at a farm that produced most of the ingredients themselves. The lunch was the tastiest Casado we’ve had in Costa Rica. They also gave a demonstration of sugar cane juice extraction while filling us in on the history of it and the production of guaro. I highly recommend doing the tour combo. It was seamless and high value.
