Considered as "a gift of the Gods", the cacao tree was very important to the ancient culture. It was not only used as a ceremonial drink, but its seeds were also used as currency because of its economic value, in many regions of Mesoamerica, including Costa Rica.
In this 2-hour “hands on” program, you'll have the opportunity to learn interesting aspects of cocoa and chocolate, from its origin and history, participating in all the production process, from the harvesting of the fruit, drying and grinding of the seed, also the developing of the traditional drink of our ancestors, and of course enjoying a high quality organic chocolate.

This was a cute little tour about how chocolate is made. Best part was tasting the different stages in the process with the final step of tasting chocolate with various spices added.

I love how you get to see, smell, touch and taste how the cacao bean progresses through each stage of the chocolate making process. I learned a lot and had fun.

It was really fun, educational, delicious, and the guide made us laugh the whole time. They also have great souvenirs in the gift shop. Make sure to bring bug spray and come hungry. Would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time learning about the whole process of growing and making chocolate. Our guide Gexel was super knowledgeable and made it fun for us! She asked lots of questions as part of the teaching method. We got to participate in the process of making chocolate - hand grinding the cacao beans. Great activity!

Great tour. The tour guide was absolutely hilarious. Should be doing stand up comedy. Also very interesting learning about how to make chocolate. We also got to eat as much chocolate as we wanted.

We learned a lot. Saw a lot. Left the tour much better informed and appreciative of the whole process and the chocolate industry.
Kellor was a very engaging tour guide who served up an excellent mix of information, issues and entertainment.
The chocolate tasting at the end of the tour was terrific!
Glad we took this tour!

Marisol was a great guide! You actually only get chocolate at the end, but it’s so rich that unless you have time to sit and let the euphoric feelings subside, there’s plenty. Good for children. Make sure to volunteer for some of the hands on activities.
