We took the Road to Hana. Our guide, Chris, could not have been more knowledgeable and attentive. He knew that it was our anniversary and went out of his way to make it special. Chris played his ukulele for us and set out a table cloth for our lunch. When we stopped at Aunt Sandy's to get banana bread, there was a flower lei vendor nearby and he purchased a lei for each of us.
He is a safe driver and did everything he could to accommodate my disabilities.
He took us to see sea turtles and to the red sand beach, both of which, other tours were not stopping to see. It was great getting to know Chris, and learning so much more about Maui and Hawaii. ASK FOR CHRIS!

My husband and I loved our tour of the Road to Hana! I’ve wanted to go on the road for years and was finally able to go. Chris was our driver and guide. He is very personable and knowledgeable. He gave us a lot of history about the road and information about different plants along the way. The road is scary but Chris has driven it so many times that I never felt uneasy at all. I walk with crutches and am unable to do the hiking and swimming at this tour includes. Chris tailored the tour to my husband and my abilities. We got to see black and red sand beaches and went to a great place for lunch. The scenery was amazing and Chris gave ample time to take pictures. The tour was perfect and the highlight of our trip to Maui! Thanks Chris!

Chris did an excellent job of giving me background and answering my questions. I felt safe and adventuresome. With this tour I felt that I came closer to touching the soul of Maui. I can't recommend this tour highly enough. Make sure you add this to your itinerary.

Chris was our guide and he was fantastic. Showed us things and sites nobody else usually mention. This whole tour was exceptional because one doesn’t have to worry about driving. I’ve been to Hana several times over the years and this was by far my favorite. Worth every dollar it cost!!

10/10 would definitely recommend booking Awapuhi Adventures. My fiance and I wanted to do Road to Hana during our semi-short stay and decided a tour would likely be the way to make the most of it. We went with the full day private tour with Awapuhi Adventures and it was more than worth the cost with Matt as our guide! You can tell he really loves Maui and wants other people to love it and enjoy themselves too.
We booked the medium activity version, which included light hiking, and we only had one specific request to see Red Sand Beach. The rest of the time we were pretty much open to his suggestions and whatever else we found along the way. We got all the greatest hits plus a few fun surprises and the specific request. He never rushed us and made sure to adjust our tour based on things we spent more/less time at while also keeping an eye on the weather. This being a private tour meant we weren't beholden to anyone's schedules or interests except our own and it was fantastic. Meeting him at a location instead of being picked up also gave us some extra time so we got a very full day.
Matt is extremely personable and full of all kinds of interesting information about the area and different sites. He's also a great conversationalist and can chat about pretty much anything. In general, he knew when to guide and when to let us safely wander a bit on our own. He also got a lot of different pictures and videos for us that were full of little details or moments we wouldn't be able to get otherwise; Bonus points for being able to airdrop them immediately at the end of the tour so we didn't have to wait. The ride itself was also very, very comfortable and he showed up with little extras that we might need (towels, reef safe sunscreen, water, cooler, etc). We're used to driving mountain roads but we felt very safe with Matt driving since he knew the roads and their customs which meant we got to enjoy the trip without having to hyper focus on narrow and unfamiliar roads. I'd like to also give a shout out to him because I have two separate invisible disabilities and he was very, very gracious about them. He genuinely didn't seem bothered and I feel like I got to fully experience Road to Hana without feeling othered. Core memory unlocked! Thank you so much for the trip, Matt!

We did the HALFWAY TO HANA TOUR and it was amazing! It was super easy coordinating meeting times and they answered all of our questions. Even though we did the halfway to Hana tour, we were still able to see all of the major sights along the way. Our tour guide Eli was very knowledgeable and an excellent driver, and also very considerate, making adjustments as needed. Overall, would recommend the halfway to hana tour if you want to spend a couple of hours taking in the beautiful sights, eating the famous banana bread, and getting home before sundown.

We did a private road to Hana tour from our cruise ship.
Chris was our guide and was waiting to meet us on the pier. He was a fantastic guide, knowledgable and passionate .
I am so glad we did this as a private tour as the car was so comfortable and Chris knew exactly where to stop for the best pictures.

This tour was beyond outstanding and worth both the cost (which was super reasonable for what you got) and time. Matt was a fantastic guide, drove like a pro (which he is), so no worries whatsoever there, and he knew all sorts of hidden gem spots to take us to. Plus he is super knowledgable about all things Hawaiian, from culture to history to food to geology to flora/fauna to politics. If you want to know all about what you are looking at, beyond the fact that it's green and pretty, he's your best pick possible. I learned SO MUCH from him. Plus he is cool, funny and fun. Nice guy and outstanding life experience. Not to mention best prices I found and great value for the dollar. Really great value. It made our entire Hana adventure magical.
