This is the second time I've done this activity and both times were great. It's easy to do, relaxing, and you get a personalized souvenir at the end for a low price.

I loved this experience. I expected a group session but that wasn't the case - as people turn up you get started, which was nice as you got a personal introduction and checked in on to see how you were doing. It was a really peaceful process and studio, and there were so many design options to chose from. There are some bits you don't do (some hot water stuff and spinning for drying) but the professional explained what he was doing and why so you still felt really involved. It's such an amazing experience and a truly unique souvenir to take home with you. Bit out of the way from Kyoto centre, but I also enjoyed this as there was some experience of authentic domestic areas in outer Kyoto.

A group was leaving just as I arrived so I was the only one in the class. All three helpers were able to give me tips and lets me participate in all the steps if the process. There are many designs to choose from and painting the wax on the fabric does not take a lot of artistic skill or talent. The final result was a beautiful dark blue tshirt with a carp wrapping around the side. Very good experience overall. I spent a couple of hours there…the location can be reached easily by bus.

It was a fun experience! The people there were really nice and they knew a smattering of English. We had a lot more time to work that I originally thought. People with more artistic skills will definitely get more enjoyment out of this than others, but non artistics can have fun as well. I would be wary of drawing waves or clouds or highly detailed things because those are hard and require a steady hand.

Great time. We were deciding between this activity and a tea ceremony. Very glad we did this. Kids ages 17-22 enjoyed it as did the parents. And we got to take a great souvenir home to remind us of our trip. One of us used our own drawing and the rest used templates. Don't need to be an expert artist - but the results look very expert. Highly recommended.
