Stop At: Villa Borghese, P.zzale del Museo Borghese, 00155 Rome Italy

The best way for us to describe the Villa Borghese gardens is:

As the keeper of the Villa Borghese Pinciana, I publicly declare: whoever you are, providing to be a freeman, fear no hindrance here; go where you like, ask what you wish; leave when you want. Everything you see was made more for the guest than for its landlord. In the golden century, when peaceful years made any thing splendid for the refined ones, the landlord forbade all iron rules for the guest.

Let good faith be the only rule for our friend.

But if someone, consciously and purposely, by wickedness and deceit, was to break the golden rules of courtesy, be alert, the angry keeper may break these friendly words on your head.

(Latin inscription carved on marble plate at Villa Borghese).

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Galleria Borghese, Piazzale del Museo Borghese 5, 00197 Rome Italy

We will visit one of the world’s most beautiful art museum hosting the works of extraordinary artists such as Bernini, Caravaggio, Canova and Raffaello. The gallery’s most important sculptures and paintings are from Cardinal Scipione Borghese’s collection (1579 - 1633).

We’ll admire Caravaggio’s most important paintings, among which “Young sick Bacchus” and “ Boy with a basket of fruit”; Bernini and Canova’s magnificent sculptures’ collection, boasting works like “Apollo and Daphne”, “David”, “The rape of Preserpina” and “Paolina Bonaparte”. Of course we won’t miss out on Raffaello’s “Entombment of Christ”.

We will lead you through the marvelous rooms of Casina Borghese, with its splendid frescoes, we’ll disclose the secrets, the stories and the painting techniques concealed behind the masterpieces of one of the world’s most beautiful art museum.

What a wonderful experience, our guide Federico was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and added so much to our visit to this exquisite art collection. This so exceeded my expectations, and it was the highlight of our visit to Rome. Quality guide makes all the difference in the world and Frederico was absolutely amazing. Five stars plus.

I’ve been to Borghese on my own many years ago thinking I’d like a guided tour this time… the guy was just talking about non relevant stuff the whole time. Most of the pieces there were barely mentioned if at all. Lots of information outside of the exhibit about other museums, Vatican etc… I was so bored and was losing my mind 🤪. As an example, the guide only mentioned one ceiling fresco after someone in the group asked a question about it before finally leaving the room! This tour was way too expensive for the experience. Even if the guide was good the price should be lower. The museum itself is fantastic. You could buy your own tickets and self tour reading a good travel guide book beforehand. I paid about 100 per ticket!! No way never again.

This was a very pleasant tour. The experience started with walking through the Borghese park toward the museum. Since we were early, we had a couple of cappuccinos in the museum cafeteria. I would suggest reserving extra time to walk through the 198 acre Borghese park as well. The guide was very informative. The fee is well worth skipping the long line to purchase tickets.

Loving Rome? Not thanks to these guys! An absolute joke of a tour operator!! We paid for our tour the day before (£160 for 2), we received confirmation, we received tickets, and we arrived 20 minutes before the tour start time, only to be told by the guide that we were not on the list. To make matters worse the guide was totally dismissive and disinterested. Under duress he rang his office who just confirmed the same, but honestly it smelt like BS. They had overbooked and that was that. I called Trip Advisor who tried to call the operator but they said that despite calling 5 times they couldn’t get through. What a way to run a business! Loving Rome - take your chances if you want, but I would advise to AVOID, these guys are shocking. And for this particular tour we were able to get a last minute ticket at the venue (€13 each) and with an audio guide (€6 each) we ended up saving a lot of money.
