Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes
Stop At: Gallery of Maps, VA, 00120 Città del Vaticano, Vatican City
The Gallery of Maps is a stupendous hallway where geography and history are perfectly intertwined. Created at the end of the 16th century, the entire room is dedicated to customized maps, which display the whole of Italy. On one side of the 393-foot long gallery are two representations of the country: one from the Imperial Roman Era and the other from the mid to late 1500s. Each map shows political happenings, religious roles, and major battles. The ceiling is no less remarkable, with frescoed scenes displaying episodes and miraculous events of apostles, saints, and martyrs, which are linked to the geographical maps below.
In nearly any situation, this Gallery is hard to enjoy fully so this is the only chance to breeze through this colossal masterpiece, brightly frescoed and enrichened by stucco insertions. You can go through it the same way Popes used to do centuries ago!
Duration: 10 minutes
Stop At: Stanze di Raffaello, Viale Vaticano, Vatican City Italy
The former Papal Apartments during periods of the 16th and 17th centuries are often overlooked for time management reasons so ordinary visits have a tendency to minimize time spent in these rooms.
The great artist was a rival of Michelangelo who, at the same time, was dwelling in the Sistine Chapel executing his equally titanic fresco.
While all rooms are overwhelming in their beauty, the graceful chromatic balancing is possibly the real fantastic characteristic which stands out in these four rooms.
Eyes peeled for Raphael's most captivating works, the most famous of which is his iconic "School of Athens".
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Sistine Chapel, Viale Vaticano, 00165 Vatican City Italy
See the rare magic of the Vatican Museums in the evening when the doors are open to the Sistine Chapel after the crowds have gone home.
Get marooned in this religious and artistic jewel, over five centuries old and safeguarding some of the world's greatest frescoes.

It was a great tour. We saw all the most important masterpieces, even some rooms which I never saw in previous tours. The Sistine Chapel always unbelievable and astonishing. The guide, Gabriel, was very clear and explained everything in details. He tried to show us all the most he could, considering the time. A very good guide! I will for sure suggest this tour to my friends. Thanks

Had a great guide (from Dublin, Ireland) for the English Tour option. Way less crowded than during the day, and our guide also led the way and highlighted some major works. Would recommend!

Our guide was great and knew much about the art. Very personable and did not rush us. The evening tour was the better option as it was not as crowded as the times I had been during the day.

Our guide was great! So knowledgeable and added some humor to history so I actually remember it. Doing it in the evening meant less crowds - which was so worth it!

The guide was very animated and engaging! She gave us the salient points in an area that is overloaded with information. The only part that was a negative was her speed walking in the beginning, without warning. My husband is disabled and struggled to keep up with her pace. A “heads up” about how quickly we needed to walk would have been helpful.

Okay, it's the Vatican. You have to do it. Is night better than day? I'm not sure it makes a difference. Is a tour guide worth it? Yes. Did we happen to have the best tour guide? Probably not. Would I recommend this tour? I really think you need one, so sure, this one does tours.
