Stop At: Hobart, Hobart, Greater Hobart, Tasmania

Mt. Field offers a variety of walks in one of Tasmania’s oldest National Parks. Most famous for Russell Falls & the Tall Trees track we explore the various walks in this diverse Park which is a short 1.5 hour drive from Hobart

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Horseshoe Falls, Central Highlands, Mount Field National Park, Tasmania TAS 7140 Australia

Russell Falls is easily Tasmania’s most recognisable waterfall with its 3-tiered drop. It is an easy and enjoyable walk along a beautiful forest track among mixed forest and temperate rainforest species. This is Tassie’s most photographed waterfall, and we soak up the awesome view before continuing our walk. Just beyond Russell Falls we climb the stairs to Horseshoe Falls, a majestic waterfall snuggled in the forest, which some regard as even more impressive than Russell Falls!

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Tall Trees Walk, Mount Field National Park, Tasmania Australia

A short 30 minute circuit trail takes us around the Tall Trees Track. High above us stand the giant Swamp Gums around 80 metres tall. This is a series of short, spectacular walks amongst the cool and quiet rainforest, eucalypts, streams, and local wildlife.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Lady Barron Falls, Mount Field National Park, Tasmania Australia

We continue along the Three Falls Circuit and enter the section known as the Tall Trees Track. High above us stand the giant Swamp Gums around 80 metres tall, the world's tallest flowering plant. From here, we have the option to continue the full circuit along the Three Falls Circuit, taking us onwards to Lady Barron Falls, or for the less active, we can return back to our start point.

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, 593 Briggs Rd, Brighton, Tasmania 7030 Australia

Next up is Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where you’ll meet all kinds of native wildlife. Learn about Tasmania’s rare and precious fauna during an informative wildlife tour conducted by the expert staff at Bonorong.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Mount Wellington, Pinnacle Road, Hobart, Tasmania Australia

To top off this very Tasmanian day we head to the summit of kunanyi /Mt. Wellington. Standing high above Hobart at 1271m on a clear day is nothing short of spectacular. The views from the top are expansive. Lovely day. I’m glad I didn’t have to drive the steep, hairpin turns to Mt. Wellington! Small group tours are my preference.

Tour was really good. Was a friendly and informative environment. The rainforest was refreshing and very nice to walk through. Bongarong was amazing, shame we only spent an hour there but I would’ve stayed there all day if we could. No koalas to be seen, none in Tasmania apparently. Mt. Wellington was good; bumpy ride but great view from the top.

Excellent trip, packed with many sights, but without rush. There is a walk in rainforest, some hiking, waterfalls, view from top of a mountain and interacting with Tasmanian animals: all in one makes a very good trip. Highly knowledgable guide provides a lot of information about flora and fauna. Highly recommended trip!

It is quite tiring for someone who does not hike a lot, however the view is worth the hike for sure. The tour guide was knowledgeable, loved all the local information provided by Heather.

Jarrod was our tour guide and driver. He took the 8 of us on a tour covering 4 locations. We did an easy downhill hike through a beautiful temperate rainforest with waterfalls, then an animal rescue conservancy that included a guided explanation of several indigenous species, then the picturesque village of Richmond for lunch (we loved the scallop pie and for dessert lavender ice cream, both of which he recommended) and wandering, then the Pinnacle Lookout over Hobart. We covered over 100 kilometers and much of it on scenic 2 lane roads. We were picked up from our hotels at 7:45-ish and dropped off about 4:40: an all day experience with lots of panoramic views from the van interspersed with narration about history, nature, and local culture. We were thoroughly pleased.
