Shared Charter Fish Policy: 2-3 lbs of your OWN catch. If you want to take fish home, servings will be cut from a fish that you have caught, within our fish policy. (you are welcome to share with other customers on board if they do not have a catch for the day).Determined by what is caught that day starting with the smallest fish and no fish weighing 80 lbs or more will be cut into. Those over 80 lbs are taken to our local fish auction which sustains local business. We make it as affordable as we can for you, the customer, to go fishing by taking the gamble on our profit margin day by day based on the fish we are able to catch and sell. This is how your crew for the day earns a living. We want you to keep in mind this is a guarantee that they will hustle all day to get you onto some fish and not just out for a boat ride. Victor, Jake and JJ were superb! Great team that goes above and beyond to educate you, help you, and ensure you are truly enjoying the experience. Didn't catch the marlin in after, but I'll be back for sure.

Was a fantastic trip! Captain Russell knows his stuff! Austin and JJ were the hardest working deck hands I have ever seen! Trip of a lifetime! Dispite being seasick the whole time, will plan another next time we come to Hawaii! 100% recommend!

We spent a whole day out at sea and caught only 1 mahi mahi. My group consisted of 4 experienced deep sea fishermen and we all shared pretty much the same sentiment. You can never control how good of a bite it's going to be, and both the tide and moon were against us (it was nearly a full moon the night before and the morning started with a 7am high tide and very low slack tide for the rest of the day). However, you can work different techniques for whatever is best that day. We did one thing the whole time. For our trip, an 8 hour charter with no opportunity to extend due to a required 3pm return, we simply trolled top-water for the entire day. The crew did occasionally swap out the lure colors to see if something else would get a bite but we only got 2 bites the whole trip, separated by about 6 hours. At multiple points along the way, we observed large groups of birds sitting over what was baitfish in mid-water columns. However, we never once slowed down to try and drop deeper setups into these fish (the larger game fish usually sit right below wherever the baitfish are at). Even when topwater clearly was not working, we just kept trolling away. The boat was clean and they took care of us but really, it left us sitting around and I never so much as touched a rod or a reel after spending an entire day on a fishing boat. It would at least be a little fun to drop a few lines even with nothing biting. But that never happened even once. So basically, if you come on Magic, hope for a really strong topwater bite or expect to be on an "ocean watching" tour. The crew is solid and def knows what they are doing, but may be so used to dealing with noob fishermen that they are burnt out... they have simplified things to the extent that it's boring for persons who are more experienced.
