As we wander in Shinjuku’s Golden Gai neighborhood you can explore an area known for being Tokyo’s most popular spot for unique izakaya, tiny bars, and pub-nightlife. Golden Gai venues are so densely packed you can almost be in two places at once (one foot in each). Golden Gai is filled with over 200 small pubs, stalls, and karaoke bars. Most are only big enough for five to seven people. Boasting the most densely populated nightlife area in the world, Golden Gai will be a glimpse of Tokyo you will never forget.

Glenda hosted my spouse and I on the food tour in Shinkjuku along with 2 other couples. She was fabulous! Not only was the tour great, she was very knowledgeable about all things Shinkjuku, the neighborhood, customs, foods, lots of other interesting facts. We went to 4 different venues, each really different and had a great tour around Shinkjuku, the Omoiyde Yokocho, the Golden Gai. Was super fun and especially recommend Glenda!

Our wonderfully quirky guide Ray was a mine of information about the cuisine and Japanese culture. His insights were wide ranging and insightful. I would highly recommend this tour…but come feeling hungry and ready to have fun!

My girlfriend and I loved the tour, enjoying an intro to Japanese cuisine and food culture. Ray was not only very entertaining and focussed on making our experience as good as possible, but very knowledgeable and taught us the basics of Japanese manners. Cannot recommend this tour enough, especially if you want to join Ray in some Karaoke! Thank you for a great evening 😁

My partner and I really enjoyed this tour. Guilia was very knowledgeable about Shinjuku and the Golden Gai area. The food in each of the restaurants was really delicious and we were able to try a good variety of Japanese dishes. We would have liked more of a chance to have drinks along the way but overall it was a great tour!

what an amazing tour. We went to places we never would have known about on our own. Alex was a fantastic tour guide- we learnt so much about Tokyo and the Shubuya area. This tour is a must and a great way to spend an evening!

Our Shinjuku Golden Gai tour with Glenda, our tour guide, was simply amazing! Definitely a highlight of our trip. Glenda was so knowledgeable, not only about the history of the Japanese foods we ate, but also about the history of Shinjuku and Tokyo in general. We also felt like we were being shown around town by our new dear friend. We ate large and varied portions of yakitori, ramen and sushi, all of which were flavorful and delicious. We also visited a charming bar in Golden Gai where we finished the night off with a fun drink. We traveled through the entertainment district of Shinjuku with its vivid display of lights that puts New York’s Times Square to shame. Finally we opted for the karaoke bar add-on, and we had the best time in our private room belting out our favorite songs. Run, don’t walk, to sign up for this tour! I give it and Glenda the highest recommendation!
