A glacier hike and ice climbing on the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull glacier. Departing from Skaftafell in the National park with your small group and professional guide. This tour suits the professional ice climber as well as anyone that wants to try it for the first time.
Your guide will take you on a short glacier hike until you get to the perfect crevasse for ice climbing. If this is your first time, you'll get the introduction on how to perform before climbing up the vertical ice wall on the glacier. If you are an expert, please let the guide know and you'll be taken to some bigger wall for some adventure.

We had wonderfull weather so the tour was nice. We were 6 people and two of them where unfortunately over 70 and not so fit so the tour was very slow. Our guide was super nice. But we had a little bit more adrenaline and adventure expected.

We are very glad we chose trollexpeditions and met Syra as our guide to the glacier hike and ice climbing!! We're a group of 4 and we are from Taiwan. We booked a private tour which include glacier hiking and ice climbing. The entire journey was pleasant, our guide Syra is so funny, very informative and also take good care of us. She took a lot of great photos for us. And she encourage my parents to try ice climbing when they were hesitating about going up. All of us made it in the end and left no regrets. There are so much unforgettable memories during this tour and made our stay in Iceland even more colorful!

Excellent excursion! Our guide, Cornelia was very sweet and handed us off to Misha and Sam for the ice climb. Misha and Sam were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the climb. Sam's bubbly personality was wonderful! All in all a wonderful experience! Highly recommend!

What a great time, learning about the ever changing landscape of the glacier while getting to go ice climbing! We had a blast learning, hiking and climbing with very informed, safe, and passionate guides. Sam and our rock climbing instructors were awesome!

We had a great time on our glacier climbing tour. Our guide, Vega, was friendly and knowledgeable about climbing. I was a little nervous since I had never done top roping before, but she made it fun and a great learning experience. It was just enough physical exertion without being too hard for beginners (there was a bit of a hike to get up there but the climb itself was just one not too big wall, and the guide walked you through everything and made sure it was safe). The view of the glacier was also amazing.

The guide was very nice and we enjoyed her leading us. The glacier hike aspect was enjoyable as we got very close to the glacier wall/tongues. Overall, the tour was good, not great. The reason for the 3 stars and not the 5 stars is the ice climbing part of the trip was not very good as we climbed a tiny wall that took ~1 minute or so to get to the top, and a lot of it was at an incline that didn’t even really need axes. It wasn’t worth the extra cost to me and I think a trip that focused only on a glacier hike or only a climb would’ve been better, or if the tour was an hour longer and we did more climbing at a higher wall.
