Sit on or even ride an ostrich.  You will be in awe with the beauty of your surroundings, with the Klein Karoo valley and the picturesque Swartberg Mountains.

Experience the world’s largest bird, the ostrich, which lays the largest egg, has the most beautiful feathers and eyes that make you want to fall in love and hug them.

Each ostrich tour has 2 parts – the main yard and the farmlands.
• In the main yard, you will be shown different ostrich feathers, the incubators and how they work, gizzard stones, and you can feed the ostriches yourself!
• The farmlands are where you will be shown the anatomy of an ostrich, visit the breeding pairs nest and for the brave, you may even get the chance to ride one!The highlight of our tours is when we end off with a traditional ostrich race performed by our professional jockeys. You can take part in our ostrich derby as a spectator along the longest Ostrich race track in the world !

Conclude your tour with a traditional ostrich meal.  Meals are served in The Pepper Tree Restaurant located in our historic homestead, with magnificent views of the Klein Karoo valley and picturesque Swartberg Mountains. Guest have the choice between a Classic Meal or a Premium Meal.

This was an amazing experience. I got to learn a lot more about ostriches than I ever thought. It was a very interactive tour, you got to stand on eggs, touch baby ostriches, feed large ostriches and see how ostrich products are made such as a feather duster. The history was interesting and I left understanding this prehistoric bird a whole lot better! The tour guide was very friendly.

We showed up spontaneously and were welcomed very warmly. Our guide Géraldine took us on tour straight away. She was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. The tour was varied, interactive and we learned many interesting things about these animals we did not know before. If you want, you can hold a young ostrich and/or feed the adults, which is a unique experience especially for children.

Our guide Samantha was absolutely fantastic. Incredibly informative, engaging and knowledgeable. You can tell she’s passionate about the farm. We were a bit saddened to find out the ostriches are all used for meat so aren’t usually kept alive after a year but that’s our fault for not reading about the purpose of the farm beforehand. Some of them seemed to have lost a lot of feathers which concerned us. We weren’t sure if it was due to natural shedding or stress, maybe a mix of the two. The ones out in the fields away from tourists all seemed to have lots of feathers. Despite this, we still learnt a lot from our guide :)
