Water Puppetry is a traditional art form with distinctive culture identity of Vietnam. It came into existence, developed and diversified over a thousand years ago in the Red River Delta. Thanks to unique performances on the water, this puppetry art is famous and highly appreciated all over the world.
In early days, water puppetry showed the daily life of villagers such as farming, fishing, romance and children playing. Now, the topics of the plays are also picked from ancient legends, myths and historic stages.

We paid £54.00 for 4 tickets which is double if we had just gone straight to the theatre and booked them a total rip off as you can see the ticket clearly shows 200vnd and the price list at the box office was the same, I would rather give the money to the theatre than a rip off agent. The show itself was outstanding.
Highly recommended for all ages very visual and easy to understand great show which I have seen before a few years ago, took friends to watch the great experience

The water puppet show its self is excellent and well worth visiting when making a trip to Hanoi, so this is by no means a review of the show its self.
The skip the line tickets were more hassle than just buying one on the day.
We arrived about 30mins before the show started, and were asked to wait. The ticket agent seemed to have trouble finding the tickets and we actually ended up being some of the last to enter the theatre just as the show was starting.
If I’d have known this, I’d have saved a bit of money and just purchased the tickets on the day.

This also happened to a couple of others at the same time. I appreciate things go wrong but the whole idea of buying tickets in advance and paying a premium is to avoid situations like this.

The experience entering the show was flawless. The show was just ok. It is definitely a one and done experience. It is recommended for a traditional experience of Vietnam.

The show itself it’s 5 stars.
Through Viator you pay 10$ though I realized you can buy the ticket minutes before the show for under 5$.
Still worth it if you don’t want to wait in the line.

There are many timings to choose from. If you dont want to queue, you can buy via Viator.If you have never seen a water puppet show, then for the small cost you should go.
The show is made up of several short traditional stories, which you may not understand fully.
Though the play is in Vietnamese, the story is quite comprehensible and comes live with melodious songs and vibrant music.

A fantastic show and experience. Totally recommend it. The live music was incredible. It is worth getting the translation instrument to understand what is going on.

Really sweet hour that gave us a cultural insight . We could understand what was happening without an audio guide .We were going to give it a miss until others said how good it was . Pleased we did it .

Very nice singers, tunes, and musicians. I can’t imagine any similar water puppet show to be better than this. Bought VIP tickets and sat in the 5th row.

You do not need to book this through a third party. We received no instructions on how to actually pick up our tickets. There is no number to text and when we called the company, they were very unhelpful. When we eventually found the young woman, she had tickets for us for the 8pm show instead of the 5:20. To her credit, she did get us into the 5:20 but the whole experience was stressful and not worth the premium price.
The theatre is right in the heart of old quarter and you can pick up tickets at any time, and the line is not that long. You’d probably want to get it ahead of time, as it does sell out sometimes. Tickets are $5 not the $10 they charge.
