Carlos from Pure Nature Tours was wonderful! He was easy to contact and kept us informed. He shifted our start time to a little bit earlier and it helped us miss the traffic other tours got stuck in. It is clear Carlos loves Costa Rica and wants you to love it too. He filled the drive with interesting facts and information about his beautiful homeland. He was also very patient, giving us all the time we needed at each stop. He also made sure we were comfortable with restroom stops, beverages, the van temperature, and even helped me get some great pictures while on the road. We had wanted to do a little souvenir shopping but had been stuck at the resort and Carlos offered to take us to a market. We were thrilled at the variety (and prices) offered at El Jardin!
Carlos gave us a preference of what we wanted to do first on the tour (we booked a private tour for our group of three so we got to ride in his brand new mini-van) so we went to the nature preserve, then the coffee/cacao farm, then then lunch at a local cafe, then we went to the waterfall.
At the nature preserve Angelina (who is a single mom, tip well) gave us an amazing tour of the property. She was able to find a blue jean frog, a red eye frog, a couple of different colors of pit vipers and a baby sloth for us. She pointed out plants and termite mounds. She even took pictures for us so we would have clear memories.
We had seen the cacao/coffee information on other Caribbean islands but we still learned some amazing facts about both products as well as why bananas and mosquitos matter! Our tour guide here was very enthusiastic and worked to keep us engaged. Kids aged 7-10 would love it!
The waterfall was lovely and worth the very steep climb up and down. The park has flush toilets and changing rooms so you can dry off after if you decide to go in the water.
I cannot believe I was standing 15 feet from a wild baby sloth! Bucket list item checked off!

From the time we scheduled it they accommodated us. The guide Gino picked us up on time and provided a lot of information. His energy was contagious which we appreciated. We ultimately saw the sloths 🦥 , enjoyed the coffee and chocolate tour!! The waterfall did not disappoint.

We had such a wonderful and memorable day with Carlos and Pure Nature tours. Carlos was so pleasant and accommodating of our group. A couple people had mobility issues, but that was not a problem. The private tour was modified to suit all our abilities, which was much appreciated. Our goal was to see some animals and learn more about Costa Rica along the way. That was definitely accomplished. When we come back to visit, we will definitely schedule another tour with Carlos and Pure Nature tours. It was a perfect day.

This was the perfect tour. Our guide Carlos was excellent, knowledgeable, and friendly. The coffee/chocolate farm gave great insight into Costa Rica's agriculture, the waterfall was beautiful, the lunch was delicious, and the nature reserve was absolutely amazing. We saw several sloths, frogs, snakes, birds, and countless beautiful native plants.

Our tour exceeded our expectations, Manuel was exceptional and had attention to details that made our entire day truly memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to show us the beauty of Costa Rica.
We never felt rushed. He allowed all the time we wanted at each stop.
Lunch was good with options for all diet wants

We absolutely LOVED this trip!! We had a small group, just my boyfriend, myself, and a solo traveler. We had the best time, taking in the gorgeous waterfall and learning more about coffee and chocolate. On our sloth tour, we saw a couple of sloths (including a baby!), a tapir, frogs, snakes, and much more. Our guide was so kind and didn’t miss a thing! She would offer to get closer and get the perfect photos for us. She even grabbed a poisonous frog to make sure everyone had a chance to see it! On our way, we even stopped at a local fruit stand, where I had the best mango of my life. We’re so grateful to our guide Ken for making this an unforgettable trip!

Carlos gave us an amazing experience. He stopped at a fruit stand so that we could experience the tastes of Costa Rica. The workers at the coffee and candy stop gave a very fun and informative tour.
