Spanish Lesson

Unfortunately, my tutor did not arrive for the lesson. After waiting for twenty minutes a lady working at the hotel texted him to say that I was waiting. I immediately got a cancellation notice from the tutor through Viator and a refund email. Apparently there had been an unexpected family emergency and he could not attend.

I had two weeks of spanish lessons with Andy, and it was by far the two best weeks I had on my trip to Costa Rica. Andy is very welcoming, patient, fun, serious (in a good way) and great! The lessons were never boring, and even though you had had a long day before, Andy still made the lessons fun and interesting. He was also so sweet to recommend, show and involve me in what happened in Montezuma during the time I was there. I can’t recommend spanish lessons with Tico Spanish enough!

Our family greatly enjoyed our immersive language experience with Andy. He arranged for us to go into a local family's home and prepare breakfast with them. The family graciously showed us the plants that they grow in their garden and greenhouse for cooking and health uses. They did not speak any English, so it forced us to practice using our Spanish. And, Andy did a great job of facilitating the experience. Andy's approach to teaching Spanish, providing visitors with authentic local interactions, and giving back to his community is so smart and commendable!

We, my wife and I, had 6 lessons with Andy during our stay in Montezuma: The best language course I‘ve ever had! Due to an excellent choice of basic grammar and all day speaking I‘m now able to take part in all day conversation with local people. Last but not least we had a lot of fun with him - 100% recommendation!

We definitely recommend the Spanish lesson. The mix of basic Spanish at first and the usage in the restaurant afterwards was perfect. Andy creates with his authentic manner a good vibe to learn very easily the language and to understand the culture. An addition to the learning experience Andy wants to support the locals that's why we ate at a restaurant which runs by ticos means Andy also support the local community. @Andy: Muchas gracias.

Andy is a great teacher and makes our lessons lots of fun. I've been trying to learn spanish for many years and this is by far the most progress I've made. Working with Andy is fun and effective - great mix of grammar and conversational practice. Definitely highly recommend!

I have wanted to learn Spanish for several years and always had a hard time grasping it and staying consistent. I met Andy in Costa Rica and he offered to teach me over Zoom when I got home. He is incredibly patient, fun to talk to, gives clear explanations, and teaches you at your own pace. He creates a relaxed and educational environment that is comfortable for any level of Spanish speaker. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn Spanish in a fun and creative way that you can do in Montezuma, while traveling, or at home!

My husband and I studied Spanish with Andy for one month last winter, in Montezuma. Andy was a fabulous teacher and patient with me as a beginning spanish speaker. He was willing to try a variety of ways to teach concepts, always encouraging me and helping me to improve my understanding and usage of the language. He took classes seriously but there was also plenty of opportunity for laughing and sharing experiences. When we returned to the US, Andy was willingly to continue working with us, using Skype. I am excited to be resuming classes with Andy in Costa Rica again this winter, as well as joining him in conversation with the local Tico community, in order to continue ‘learning by doing’.

Andy is a great teacher! He is very thorough and patient. He has great ideas for remembering words and sentence structure. I’m learning really fast!
